Chapter 50
“Because I want to beat one of my classmates,” Eden said.
For someone so young, Eden’s clear little voice carried real strength when she answered Sierra’s question.
“I want to prove to her that I can do it better than her, no matter what it is.”
Sierra was a little taken aback. She didn’t expect Eden to be this competitive.
“Ms. Bell,” Eden said as she took Sierra’s hand, her bright eyes fixed on Sierra. “Can you be strict with me? I want to master the
basics as fast as I can.”
“Sure.” Sierra agreed.
After making that request, Eden focused all her attention on practice.
Sierra was a genuine expert in classical dance. At her peak, she had taken multiple national awards. She had never let go of it, even after she married.
Meanwhile, Eagon leaned back in his chair in his study as he watched the live camera feed and spoke to the scholarly man
beside him.
“Relax. I’ve already explained everything to Eden. She won’t slip up. She really has been wanting to learn classical dance lately.”
Solomon watched the footage. His eyes, behind his glasses, were impossible to read.
“There’s something I’m curious about,” Eagon said, resting his chin on one hand.
Solomon glanced at him.
“Logically, that Pamela that your brother keeps outside is the one we should be watching,” Eagon went on. “So why are you fixated on Sierra? Aren’t they already divorced?”
“She applied for the divorce, but they haven’t actually gotten the certificate,” Solomon corrected.
Eagon frowned. “What difference does that make? Divorce is divorce, right?”
“If he doesn’t want it, it won’t happen.”
Solomon knew his younger brother very well.
Eagon still didn’t get it, but he didn’t worry about it either. At the end of the day, it had nothing to do with him.
They watched the monitor for a while longer.
Once they were sure Eden didn’t say anything she should not have, they slipped out of the villa without alerting anyone.
Sierra, who was completely focused on teaching Eden in the dance studio, was completely unaware.
After the three–hour lesson ended. Eden looked like she was enjoying her time and tried to keep Sierra for lunch, but Sierra turned Eden down with the excuse that she had something to take care of at home. Eden didn’t insist as well.
Sierra patted her head and praised her a few more times before leaving.
What she never expected was to receive a message from her father on the way back.
Lucas Bell: [Come over. I have something I need to talk to you about.]
Attached was the location of a high–end bar.
Sierra typed in his number and called. This time, instead of the usual cold recording that simply said the number was

unavailable, she heard an actual dial tone.
Time passed slowly.
It only rang a few times, but to Sierra, it felt like a full century had passed.
Her mind filled with images of the past, of him running off with their money, and of all the lies he had told.
On the fifth ring, the call connected. A hoarse voice, roughened with age, sounded in her ear. “Sierra.”
Sierra’s hand trembled slightly around the phone.
It really was him!
After all these years, he still had the nerve to pick up her call!
