Chapter 526
“She looked sweet,” Opal said from the other side of the line to Gary.
Gary went silent.
“And she’s funny too,” Opal continued.
Gary was so confused right now. He shot back without thinking, “I think you’ve lost your mind.”
Opal hung up as she could not be bothered wasting another word on him. She had already said her piece. If he still wanted to stir up trouble, then she would just end up with a new sister.
Her phone buzzed and a new message popped up on her phone.
It was from Gary: [Do you want to be friends with her?]
Opal thought of Sierra’s almost robotic personality. She was cute in a strange way. For a brief moment, Opal really had wanted to be friends with Sierra.
But that was all. It was all in her mind.
Friendship was one thing she had no intention of touching. Her life now was good enough.
[I don’t care why you work with Sierra, but don’t forget your lesson just because enough time has passed.
] Gary sent, unusually stern for once. [You know what this circle is like better than I do. Don’t be stupid again.]
Opal glanced at the message and calmly replied with two words: [You’re crazy.]
Gary fired back right away: [You’re the crazy one!]
Opal did not reply again. He was the CEO of a public company, yet he could be so childish.
Sierra was thankful that she had moved fast enough to close the deal with Opal. If she had been even a little slower, something bad would have happened.
That very night, she got a voice message from Opal, “If you’d come to me even one day later, the price would’ve doubled.”
Three screenshots came with the voice message.
Starview Media had already suppressed all of them.
Sierra typed back like a machine with no feelings. [As expected of you. You can really get things done.]
Opal sent a message back. “Didn’t realize you’re such a smooth operator.”
[Nothing like that. I’m just telling the truth.] Sierra replied.

Sitting on her couch at home, Opal smiled and sent back a voice message. “Call me Big Sis and I’ll tell you who sent those pieces.”
Sierra sent back: [Isn’t there a confidentiality clause?]
“A clause means nothing if my lil‘ sis is the one asking,” Opal replied.
Sierra fell silent. She felt like Opal was flirting with her, but she had no proof.
“You don’t want to?” Another voice message from Opal came in.
After thinking it over, Sierra typed two words. It was only through a screen anyway. Opal could not see her expression: [Big Sis.]
“That’s all?” Opal’s teasing was obvious as her tone dragged. “Send me a voice message. Text doesn’t
count.”
Sierra fell silent again.
She immediately took her phone to Tommy.
Seeing the troubled look on his mother’s face, Tommy’s round eyes filled with curiosity. “What’s wrong,
Mom?”
“When I hold down the record button in a second, say ‘Big Sis‘ into the phone.” Sierra was desperate. She really could not bring herself to say it herself. Going by age, Opal was actually a year younger than she
was.
Tommy nodded. “Okay.”
Sierra held down the record button, and Tommy immediately called out in a bright voice, “Big Sis!”
Opal opened the voice message with interest.
She couldn’t help picturing Sierra’s face when she sent it. Was she grimacing like she could barely stand it, or looking embarrassed?
“Big Sis!” A little boy’s voice came through the phone.
Opal froze for two full seconds. Then she played it again just to make sure it really was the voice of a
child.
“I didn’t realize you could be this shameless,” she said in another voice message. “Are you trying to move me up the social hierarchy and make me your aunt?”
Sierra let out a light cough and replied with perfect sincerity: [That’s my voice. I figured you’d like it, so I made it sound sweeter on purpose.]
Opal stared at the screen.
Did Sierra really think she was that easy to fool?
