Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 54

Chapter 54

I didn’t expect Ms. Bell to be this feisty!

The men in the private room watched the scene where Sierra was threatening Lucas with a broken glass bottle. They weren’t surprised, as if they had seen it countless times.

No wonder John liked you. It must be your temper!

Have a drink, Mrs. Henderson, someone said, deliberately stressing the title.

Lucas’s expression did not change. He never took her resistance seriously. Why are you still standing there?

Sierra’s hand was shaking slightly as she held the broken bottle, but her feet slowly edged toward the door.

Every man in the room saw it.

Looks like Mr. Bell isn’t all that eager about rebuilding his company. One of the men set his wine glass down with a dull thud, displeasure written all over his face. In that case, forget about the drink.

Lucas’s expression became even more vicious when he heard the glass being harshly placed on the table.

He had finally managed to claw his way back and reestablished a few connections to restart his company. He would never allow this ungrateful daughter to ruin it all.

When he first heard she had married John, he had planned to use that connection to pull the company back from collapse. But she had told John she didn’t even know him, and Lucas could only watch opportunity after opportunity slip away because of

John.

I’ll give you one last chance,Lucas said as he glanced at the glass in her hand. If you still refuse, it’s not my fault if I ignore our relationship as father and daughter.

Sierra did not respond.

There was no fatherdaughterbond left between them.

Lucas finally ran out of patience when he saw how stubborn Sierra was. He waited for an opening, then lunged for the bottle in

her hand.

Sierra swung the glass bottle wildly, but Lucas was determined to please these men. He was determined to force her to obey, even if there was a risk that she would cut him and blood would be spilled.

Slash!

The sharp edge carved a long, bleeding gash across his hand.

Lucas gritted his teeth through the pain and clenched his fingers around the broken bottle, and tore it out of Sierra’s grip. His eyes were as dark as his mood.

Crash!

He hurled the bottle to the floor, smashing it into pieces.

Now, go pour each of them a drinkLucas said with a dark expression.

Don’t make me call the police.Sierra lifted her left hand, and the emergency number on the screen was shown to Lucas. I don’t mind letting every single one of them here spend a day at the station.

The police won’t care if all I’m asking is for you to pour them a drink,Lucas sneered.

He was quite experienced in this, and he wasn’t that easily scared.

Of course they won’t if it’s just pouring drinks.Sierra dragged her thumb across her lips and ruined her lipstick, then looked slowly around the room. But if I call them here and they see me with bruises all over and my clothes torn, do you think they’ll still believe this is just about pouring drinks?

YouLucas was shuddering with anger.

When you dragged me over from the other private room just now, the hallway cameras got all of it,Sierra said, her eyes more determined than ever. Why don’t you guess how this will end?

At this point, everyone in the private room had lost interest. No one wanted this to escalate to the point where the police got involved.

And thus, they voiced out their thoughts one after another.

Next time, teach your daughter some manners before you bring her out.

You can’t even manage your own family. We should rethink this partnership.

No wonder John married your daughter and never lifted a finger to help you. He must have seen your lack of talent a long time ago.

Every sentence successfully made Lucas’s mood turn sour.

But since he still needed them, he could only keep smiling and please them with honeyed words.

Sierra slipped her phone back into her hand and walked out. Only when she slid into the back seat of a cab did the tightness in her chest finally begin to ease.

Inside the private room, she had been holding on with nothing but sheer spirit.
