Chapter 56
“Well, we won’t force you if you can’t drink.” Kenneth smiled slightly at Lucas. “Making deals is all about mutual agreement in the end.”
Lucas’s fingers tightened around the glass. His eyes drifted over to the bottles on the table. After considering all the outcomes in his mind, he gave a firm answer.
“I’ll drink!”
He had already crossed those men downstairs just now, thanks to Sierra. If he wanted their help again, the amount of liquor he would have to drink would probably be even worse than this.
All Lucas wanted was an opportunity, anyway. He might as well gamble on John.
As long as John was willing to help him, he would never have to worry about money again.
Once Lucas made up his mind, he started drinking one glass after another.
Kenneth watched the empty bottles line up and glanced sideways at the man beside him.
This was just too brutal!
Thump!
When the last bottle finally ran dry, Lucas was completely drunk. His steps wobbled, his words slurred, but he didn’t forget his goal.
“I finished all of it.”
John gave a quiet hum as a response.
Lucas was about to speak again when John suddenly stood up and headed for the door without so much as a glance in his direction.
Lucas hurried forward to block John’s way. “Mr. Henderson, you have not told me what the opportunity is yet!”
“I originally planned to help you rebuild your company.” John’s dark eyes looked at Lucas coldly. “But since you touched her, your opportunity’s gone with that.”
Lucas’s thoughts were all jumbled up. It took several seconds before he finally understood it. When he did, rage boiled up as he pointed at John.
“You played me!”
John did not even look at him as he walked away nonchalantly.
Lucas snapped.
The humiliation from Sierra and the way he had been forced to drink himself half to death just now, all twisted together and exploded, pushing him to the breaking point. He grabbed a bottle and swung it at the back of John’s head with everything he had.
So what if this man was John Henderson?
If he dared treat Lucas like this, he deserved to die!
By seniority, he was still John’s father–in–law. Not only had John never really helped him all these years, but now, he also played games with him?!
The more Lucas thought about it, the more the madness in his eyes solidified, and the heavier his swing.

Crash!
John caught his wrist midair and twisted it sharply.
Lucas’s arm dislocated immediately. Before he could even scream from the pain, John delivered a kick right at him.
Bang!
Crash!
Two loud noises rang out.
Lucas went sprawling beside the table, hatred burning in his eyes. Just as he opened his mouth to curse, he met John’s icy gaze, and he swallowed down every word he wanted to spout. He also suddenly recalled just how brutal John could be.
“The liquor on this table comes to a little over two hundred thousand.” John took in every change of Lucas’s expression and said everything slowly, every word making Lucas fall further into despair. “Make sure you pay Mr. Gomez back.”
“I didn’t order them!” Lucas forced the words out with everything he had left.
“You want me to treat you?” John asked.
The tone was perfectly mild, but Lucas could hear the threat clearly.
His face went pale in an instant. He knew that if John really decided to “treat” him, the end would be far worse than this.
“Card or cash, Mr. Bell?” Kenneth asked in a playful tone.
Lucas’s limbs were turning cold as his drowsy mind finally cleared.
“All his assets together come to a little over ten thousand,” John:
said evenly. “Just enough to cover the table downstairs.”
Kenneth followed his lead smoothly. “So… Mr. Bell is planning to drink and dash, huh?”
“I…” Lucas sensed nothing but terror.
Treating those men downstairs to dinner had already cost him his savings. If he hadn’t heard that Sierra might have received a large divorce settlement, he would never have taken such a risk.
“Since you’re Ms. Bell’s father, I won’t call the police this time.” Kenneth acted like he was doing this for Lucas’s own good.” Starting today, you’ll wash glasses here at the bar. You can leave when the debt is paid off.”
As he finished, he pulled out a written contract like magic.
Lucas’s eyes widened.
They had planned all this!
“So… Will you? Or won’t you?” Kenneth smiled, looking harmless.
Lucas wanted to refuse, but the moment his eyes met John’s icy gaze, his courage disappeared.
He took the pen and the stamp pad from Kenneth’s hand and signed, pressing his stamp down hard. He didn’t know what would happen if he refused, but he understood very clearly that this was the last chance John was willing to give him.
