“Marcus, see them out.” Something clutched tight in Sierra’s chest.

“No matter how valuable she is, it has nothing to do with us. She’s already divorced from John.” Agnes frowned. “If you ask me, she was never any good for us. Someone like her was never fit to marry into the Henderson family. Just look at how much of John’s property she took in the divorce. What if it happened again?”

The more Agnes spoke, the more worked up she got. Her expression looked dark, and it was obvious how much she cared about the assets John had given Sierra during the divorce.

“If she married into the Henderson family with the King family and Lynch family behind her, the alliance we had would be a powerful one. All the other prominent families would be eating our dust after that.” Danny said as he schemed. “The Henderson family could stay number one for the next hundred years.”

Agnes was very satisfied with John as he was now. “Even without her, John can still do it.”

“If a marriage alliance can bring us all of that, why take the long way around?” Danny did not bother hiding what he was

thinking.

“She and John just got divorced. There’s no way they are getting back together anytime soon.”

Agnes thought about everything that had happened to her son lately and how Sierra had not shown up even once.

“Instead of thinking about that, we should wait for John to lead the Henderson family to a greater height.”

Danny looked out the window. “Even if they don’t get back together, we still have our eldest.”

“You mean Solomon?” Agnes asked as she blinked.

“Yes.” Danny nodded.

Agnes stared at him in disbelief. “Are you out of your mind? Was it not enough for her to ruin one of my sons? Now you want her to ruin the other one too?”

“John leading the family to greatness and the benefits Sierra can bring us aren’t mutually exclusive.” The more Danny thought about it, the more practical the idea felt like. “Call Solomon and tell him to come home for dinner tonight.”

Sierra didn’t realize they were having such ridiculous thoughts.

After watching Danny and Agnes leave, she headed for her bedroom, and old images rose in her mind.
