“Don’t let your pity make you forget everything that happened before,” Marcus added when he saw Sierra looking at him with a confused look.

Sierra looked at him, even more curious. “So… Who hurt you?”

“I’m still single to this day. No one has ever hurt me,” Marcus said.

“Then where did all this experience come from?” Sierra asked.

“A real master prepares in advance before trouble comes knocking,” Marcus said in the same rigid tone as always. “I have read books and watched shows. I have also summed up the experiences of countless people.”

Sierra blinked at him a few more times.

Marcus asked, “If I were a husband, what score would you give me?”

“I don’t know.” Sierra answered honestly instead of making assumptions. “I’m not your wife, so I can’t score you.”

“Then imagine I’m your husband.” Marcus seemed unusually stubborn about it. “What score would I get?”

Sierra looked at him suspiciously. “Do you have a woman you like?”

Marcus said nothing.

Sierra made a bold guess. “Or a man maybe?”

“If you don’t want to answer my question, you can just refuse. It’s wrong to make assumptions about your bodyguard’s intentions.” Marcus stayed as serious as ever. “Since this is your first offense, I’ll let it pass.”

Once again, Sierra felt that Marcus’s mind worked difrom most people. Even now, she still couldn’t really understand

him.

“Where will I be staying for the next few days?” His thought process might be strange, but he always handled every task she gave him extremely well.

“The third room on the right on the first floor.” Sierra had already asked Grant to prepare it for him. “If you need anything, talk to the butler Mr. Rogers.”

“Alright.” Marcus gave a small nod.

Sierra nodded back. But before she had taken more than two steps, Grant walked over hesitantly, clearly wanting to say

something.

Seeing that he had something on his mind, Sierra asked directly, “What is it?”

“There is one small matter that requires your decision.” Grant still looked as young as ever, and his attitude toward Sierra had never changed. “Before this, we served both you and Mr. Henderson, and everything was centered on Mr. Henderson’s orders. But now…”

He trailed off. He did not know how to say it.

If he directly asked whether they were still needed, it would sound like they did not trust Sierra. But if he said nothing, and

something happened later, and Sierra felt they were not putting her first and were still taking orders from John, that would be

bad too.

“Everything stays the same. I’ll pay your salaries from now on. There’s only one condition.”

“I’m listening,” Grant spoke at once, relieved.

Sierra could tell at a glance what he was worried about.

Don’t tell John anything about me. From now on, you answer only to me.” Sierra reminded him, “Everything that happens bere has nothing to do with John.”

I understand,” Grant nodded.

Sierra nodded back. “Good.”

Sierra then went upstairs.

She would hardly come back to Campanile Estate, but everyone here had worked there for a long time. It would not feel right to dismiss them just because she and John had divorced. Besides, John had given her plenty in the divorce. It was enough to cover

their salaries.

“Oh, right.” She suddenly thought of something.

Grant, who was just going to share the news with everyone else, quickly turned around. “Yes?”
