Chapter 565
Robin glanced toward the hospital room and thought. He hoped his and Kenneth’s plan would go well. When Sierra arrived that afternoon, John was sitting up in bed, scrolling through his tablet and handling work. The moment he saw her, he set it aside. His eyes were laid on her and did not move.
Sierra sat in the chair beside him.
John waited for a while, but when she still did not speak, he finally took the initiative. “What do you want for dinner tonight? I’ll have Robin order it for takeaway.”
“It’s fine.” Sierra did not fall for it and ignored him. “I’m only staying for half an hour, then I’m leaving. I still have things to do at home.”
“Work?” John asked.
“Yeah.” Sierra nodded.
“Let me help you, then,” John offered.
Sierra refused without the slightest change in expression. “I can handle it myself. Just focus on getting
better.”
“You…” John had only said one word when Sierra’s phone rang.
She glanced at it, then took her phone and stepped aside to answer. Even without hearing the whole conversation, John could tell from the voice on the other end that it was Nicholas. He did not know what Nicholas was saying. He could only hear Sierra’s replies.
“Yeah.”
“At the hospital.”
“Not me. John.”
“No. Solomon asked me to come check on him. I made a deal with him earlier, so this is me paying him back for that.”
“About half an hour. I’ll tell you when I leave.”
Even without hearing Nicholas’s side, John could guess what he had asked from Sierra’s answers. So after she hung up, he asked, “Do you have somewhere to be?”
“A friend’s looking for me,” Sierra said honestly.
“Nicholas?” John asked.
“Yeah.” Sierra nodded.
John said nothing else. He would never tell her to go handle her own business, and he would not push

away someone who had finally come back to him after trying so hard.
“Tommy said Nicholas confessed to you.” John asked Sierra directly about it. He had to know why Sierra was still in contact with Nicholas after that confession. “You turned him down?” 1
Sierra was not surprised at all. “Yeah.”
John kept his eyes on her. “Why not give him a chance?”
Sierra answered with a straight face, even though she was just making things up. “We have been friends for too long and it’s hard to switch roles that fast. I need time to adjust.”
John’s dark eyes stayed on her.
That meant she had not completely rejected Nicholas.
“Is he still pursuing you now?” John asked.
“That’s personal.” Sierra did not say much. She had only said those things to make him give up completely and stay away from her for good. “I don’t owe you a duty to answer you.”
“Nicholas is fine as a friend, but that doesn’t mean he’s right for you as a husband.” Whether it was appropriate or not, John said it anyway. “He’s too careless and too thoughtless. He would not take good care of you.”
“You’re overstepping your boundaries, Mr. Henderson.” Sierra argued back.
“I’m not.” John defended himself. “I’m only offering a little advice to someone I care about as an outsider. The final choice is still yours to make.”
“Of course it is,” Sierra replied without hesitation.
“Sierra…” John began.
“It’s not suitable for us to be so intimate.” Sierra’s face stayed blank. “From now on, just call me Ms. Bell.”
Every time he called her using her name only, it sounded gentle and full of love just like before. If she heard that voice too often, it would be easy to lie to herself and to forget the pain once the wound started to heal.
“Alright.” John did not push it. He simply went along with what she wanted.
After that, they barely spoke.
One of them kept glancing out the window to distract herself. The other kept his eyes on her the whole time. It should have been awkward, yet it looked like peaceful scenery. It was so beautiful that no one wanted to disturb it.
