Tammy fell silent for a while.
Then, as if she had finally made up her mind, she told Sierra, "Solomon wouldn't allow it."
Sierra was caught off guard. "Solomon had them shelved?"
Tammy made a small hum of agreement.
A flicker of confusion crossed Sierra's face. She had not expected Solomon to be that controlling. He had ignored the hard work of the actors and crew, forcing the shows to be buried for his own selfish reasons.
What was wrong with those two brothers?
"Miss." Marcus suddenly called out to her. "Where does Ms. Tammy live? Should we take her home first?"
Sierra looked at Tammy.
Tammy's hands tightened slowly in her lap, it looked as if she was afraid to go back.
"Why don't you stay at my place tonight?" Sierra said, careful not to say anything that might upset her. "I've got plenty of empty rooms."
She did not know what kind of relationship Tammy and Solomon really had.
From what John had said before, they had been together for years, yet Solomon had never admitted Tammy was his girlfriend. At the same time, he kept interfering in her career. Tammy was clearly unhappy about it, but she still stayed with him.
Their relationship was probably far more complicated than it looked.
"Hm?" Sierra asked again when Tammy did not answer.
Tammy wanted to agree, but when she thought of Solomon's temper, she hesitated. "No. Just drop me off at East Street Underground."
The second she finished speaking, her phone started vibrating. This ringtone was different from the last one. From the corner of her eye, Sierra caught the name on the screen.
H.
H? Henderson? Solomon?
Tammy looked at the caller ID, her hand hovering over the screen. She was clearly struggling with whether to answer.
Before she could say anything, Solomon's icy voice came through. "Why did it take you so long to answer? What were you doing?"
"Solomon?" Sierra said on purpose.
There was a brief pause on the other end.
Solomon frowned slightly as he pulled the phone away to check the screen and make sure he had not called the wrong number. "Sierra?"
"Yes," Sierra said. Solomon gave nothing away.
His tone was calm and unhurried, with a trace of gentleness as he asked, "Where's Tammy?"
"Right next to me." Sierra answered naturally, without letting anything show. "She got sick and passed out. I'm taking her back to Campanile Estate now."
"Keep an eye on her for me for now. I'll be there soon." Solomon still spoke in that same measured tone.
Sierra was just going to tell him not to come, but he had already hung up.
