John turned his gaze on Kenneth.
Kenneth froze. How did this circle back to him again?!
“I’ll call the manager and have Nicholas thrown out,” he offered immediately, pulling out his phone to show loyalty. “I’ll blacklist him. Any business owned by Gomez Group will refuse him from now on.”

John didn’t look away.
Robin translated calmly, “Our boss is not that petty.”
“Then give me a clear instruction,” Kenneth said.
He could sometimes guess what John was thinking about other things, but Robin was clearly way better at this in this kind of situation.
“What exactly do you want me to do?” Kenneth asked.
“Tell the manager to decorate their private room for a confession,” John said, voice steady. “In the middle of the meal, send in red roses and a proposal ring. Say it’s all prepared for Sierra.”
Robin went quiet.
Kenneth needed a couple of seconds to process it. “You’re helping your rival confess?”
“Since he likes her, I’ll give her a hand,” John replied without a hurry.
Kenneth was about to ask if he had hit his head somewhere. Then, something clicked. He suddenly understood why he wanted this done.
He had heard a bit about Sierra’s personality. If Nicholas really staged a grand confession and proposal like that before she and John had officially gotten their divorce certificate, she wouldn’t be moved. Instead, she would be repulsed.
On the surface, it would look like love.
In reality, it would be blatantly disrespectful of Sierra.
It would make her believe that Nicholas was treating her like the kind of woman who played both sides. That she was some woman who could accept another’s proposal before her divorce was even finalized.

Watching the drama unfold was one thing, but the kind of gossip in front of him now was the kind that could blow up with the slightest touch. That was another matter entirely. Getting out of it in one piece was the real problem now.
“If you ask me, that was just a simple hug between old friends. No need to take it so seriously.”
Kenneth spoke up first so he could breathe and so he could try to make the mood in the car a bit lighter.
Robin almost choked.
He wished Kenneth had not said anything!
Kenneth clearly did not notice how much colder John’s eyes had become.
“Besides, you and Sierra have been married for years, and you have a son now. Whatever Nicholas felt back then has to be long gone,” Kenneth went on.
“Mr. Gomez,” Robin cut in, sounding perfectly serious as he was worried to be dragged into the mess, “are you thirsty?”
“I’m not,” Kenneth answered reflexively.
Robin’s one hand on the steering wheel was greasy with sweat. “I believe you are.”
“Is there something wrong with your assistant?” Sensing that the pressure in the car had eased just a fraction, Kenneth finally let out a sigh. “He wouldn’t let me get out just now, and now he’s forcing me to drink water.”
John turned his head, his dark eyes deep and dangerous. “I believe you’re thirsty too.”
“I…” Kenneth forced his words down the moment he met that gaze, as dark as the abyss.
What kind of delusion made him think that he had managed to get through to this man?!
“Since you say I’m thirsty…” Kenneth muttered, his heart skipping a beat. He obediently picked up the water bottle. “Then I’m thirsty.”
John’s eyes grew even darker.
Nicholas Young.
He had almost forgotten about this man.
The car followed Sierra and Nicholas all the way to a high–class restaurant. Through the window, John watched the two of them walk in together, talking and laughing. His lips pressed together.
Kenneth and Robin stayed quietly in their seats, neither daring to speak.
“Who owns this restaurant?” John asked, eyes still on the entrance.
Kenneth was confused. It was his first time here. How was he supposed to know?
“It’s an investment of a subsidiary owned by Gomez Group,” Robin answered.
For once, he was relieved that he had anticipated this question.
John turned his gaze on Kenneth.
