Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 606

In truth, both Sierra and John understood what Tommy wanted.

But too much stood between them. So much that even after Sierra learned about his broken childhood and youth, all she felt was heartache, not forgiveness.

"Sir." Robin had listened to the whole call, and the confusion on his face was obvious. "You don't have anything scheduled on Mr. Tommy's birthday. Even the international meeting that was supposed to be that day had already been moved earlier."

"I know," John said.

Robin raised his eyebrow.

John did not explain. After setting down his phone, he asked directly, "How is the investigation I assigned you?"

"The man who rushed out at the entrance of King Group was arranged by a younger member of one of the King's side branches," Robin reported. "He was unhappy after hearing Ms. Bell might become a major shareholder of King Group, so he wanted to ruin her reputation."

John's eyes darkened. "A side branch?"

"I checked several times," Robin said. "It is confirmed to be a side branch."

"Send a warning to Charlie. Tell him not to touch people he should not touch," John said. "If he refuses to listen, I'll personally teach him what he should do."

When Loren had come to him before, John had only gone along with it. But this time, he was serious. He felt his promise to protect her for life mattered more compared to his promise not to meddle in her affairs.

"Understood," Robin replied at once.

Kenneth found out about it within a few hours.

When he learned John was no longer rigidly sticking to the promise he had made Sierra and had started looking for loopholes instead, he felt relieved. So after hearing the whole story, he immediately started to gossip again.

"Didn't Robin say it was some younger member of the King's side branch? Why did you have him warn Charlie?"

John did not answer.

If anyone else had said something like that, no one would have accepted it.

Kenneth quickly added, "Do you need me to keep an eye on Charlie? I don't have much going on lately anyway."

"No need." John had always preferred handling his own matters himself. "Just manage your own company. Solomon has been making frequent moves lately. He's probably trying to steal your project."

"He won't," Kenneth said with complete certainty.

John raised a brow.

Kenneth seemed to know what he was thinking, so he explained without being prompted, "His love life has been a mess lately. He probably doesn't have time to steal my project."

"Did Tammy find out about his engagement to Maya, the second daughter of the Jones family?" John asked, based on what he had learned during this time.
