Chapter 617
After Sierra got home that day she played with Tommy for more than an hour before going to see Anna. The two of them took a slow walk through the garden
Seeing how calm and quiet she was, Anna asked, “Something on your mind?”
Sierra nodded. After taking a moment to collect herself, she asked, “Is it wrong to doubt someone who has been treating you well?”
“A friend?” Anna asked.
“No,” Sierra said.
Anna thought about the people Sierra had been around lately. After a while, she asked carefully, “Tony and Marcus?”
“Was it that obvious?” Sierra felt torn. Part of her thought their backgrounds were a little complicated. Another part worried that doubting them might hurt them.
Anna answered honestly. “No, it wasn’t.”
Sierra let out a small breath. “That’s good.”
“What are you suspicious about?” Anna asked. She did not know what had happened between them. After coming back, she handed everything over to her daughter.
Sierra told her about her doubts and everything she had noticed. It was not that she thought Tony and Marcus were bad people. She just felt there was something slightly suspicious about them. She preferred working with people who she wouldn’t have to doubt.
After hearing the whole story for five minutes, Anna asked, “Do you want me to look into them for you?”
Sierra nodded. “Can you?”
“Come on.” She led Sierra upstairs. Anna was a fast mover when it came to this sort of thing.
“Actually, you could let Tommy handle this,” Anna said as she turned on the computer and told Sierra about Tommy’s progress over the past few days. “He’s already better than the average hacker.”
Sierra blinked. Was he that good?
“Is there something else you want to tell me?” Anna asked as she sat down at the computer, her fingers typing on the keyboard.
“Huh?” Sierra blinked.
ľ
“You eyed me five times after you got home,” Anna said.
Sierra fell silent.
So… Everyone but her could read minds?
After thinking it over for a moment, she briefly brought up some other matters too once Anna started looking into things. Daniel called me over after work today. He said that if I wanted, Nathan could transfer the shares to me.”
Anna’s expression did not change. “And your thoughts?”
“I think it’s a trap.” Sierra sat down beside Anna, still thinking about it in her mind. “You said Daniel is a cunning man. A cunning man wouldn’t do something this foolish.”
Anna smiled faintly. She was very pleased with her daughter’s judgment.
Resting her chin on her hand, Sierra said, “But I thought about it the whole way home, and I still couldn’t figure out why he’d do

Sierra looked at her.
Anna stated the cruel truth. “To be more exact, it’s John who’s worth taking a chatice on.”
Sierra understood at once. The fog in her mind began to clear.

“He doesn’t want Lynch Group’s shares ending up in an outsider’s hands after Nathan is gone, and he doesn’t want them falling into his brother’s hands either,” Anna said. She knew exactly what Daniel was thinking. “Under the circumstances, you’re the best choice. You’re Nathan’s daughter, and you also have John’s support. Aman who can shake the entire business world.”
“But I’m already divorced,” Sierra said, though everything was already becoming clear in her mind.
“Divorce doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from the relationship. They saw the gift John gave you for your birthday, and they’ve heard what he gave you in the divorce settlement,” Anna said bluntly. “As long as John still cares about you, it doesn’t matter whether you’re divorced. If you take over the Lynch family, he’ll naturally help you behind the scenes, planning everything for you and quietly solve your problems.”
