Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 620

"A security company only really asks for a few things from its employees. No criminal record, good combat skills, and a strong sense of duty." Marcus clearly saw himself as the company's best hire when he talked to Tony about it. "I got in after taking on ten men by myself."

Tony fell silent. That did sound like there was nothing wrong with it. A bodyguard like him who was skilled and responsible would be in demand anywhere.

Marcus then asked, "What about you?"

"Obviously, I got with the power of exceptional intelligence," Tony said naturally. "You don't think everyone gets by on brute force like you, do you?"

Marcus said flatly, "Got it. You got in through connections."

Tony gave Marcus a look.

Trying to save his dignity, he added, "We specialize in different things."

"Right," Marcus said expressionlessly.

"My mind works better than yours," Tony said.

"That still doesn't change the fact that you can't fight," Tony said in a matter-of-factly tone.

Tony gritted his teeth.

He couldn't fight?

He could easily take down three regular bodyguards at the same time. It was just that not everyone could be like Marcus.

"I'm going to bed." Marcus had no interest in arguing with Tony anymore.

From the first day they met, he had already decided Tony was the kind of partner who was too fragile to protect himself.

"The miss is meeting with the hospital from Project One tomorrow. Get up early."

With that, he left without another word.

Tony still wanted to say something, but Marcus had already shut the door behind him.

The next morning, Sierra headed out with Marcus and Tony as usual. The way the three of them interacted was much the same as before. The only difference was that four cars were following behind them.

"Miss," Tony started as he checked both side mirrors. "Those four cars have been tailing us the whole way."

"Find out who they belong to," Sierra said, handing it off to Marcus.

Marcus noted the license plates and started checking. In less than five minutes, he had an answer. "They came from a rental company. Their registration is under the name of an employee from a small company under Lynch Group."

Tony looked offended.

Marcus stepped in to translate for Sierra. "Your lane changes were a little too inconsiderate of other drivers'…emotional well-being."

Tony raised an eyebrow. "What kind of comment is that? I have excellent control over the car. Every lane change I made was safe and it didn't affect me or the other drivers."

Marcus replied, "You're forgetting that nerves are a thing."

Tony lifted a brow. "And that's somehow my fault?"

Marcus turned to Sierra. "He's talking back again."

Sierra glanced out the window. Once she saw the four cars had not caught up, she relaxed a little. "This isn't exactly the first time."

Marcus nodded. "True."

Tony blinked.

Was he wrong?

Meanwhile, the other drivers he had startled with those rapid lane changes were silently furious. If they could hear what Tony was thinking, they would have cursed him out.
