Chapter 63
The restaurant manager felt a little embarrassed,
Before he could think of a way out, Sierra stood up from her seat and walked over. Her expression was calmer than ever. “It’s John who told you to do this, right?”
“No, no!” the manager denied it at once. “It’s not him.”
“Where is he?” Sierra went straight to the point. “Next room, or has he left already?”
Back when John used to drag her out to “watch a show,” he would always book the room right next door to the action. After so many years, she refused to believe he had suddenly changed that habit.
Cold sweat rolling down the restaurant manager’s forehead. He didn’t expect things to develop like this.
“Have her come over,” Kenneth’s voice came through the restaurant manager’s earpiece.
The restaurant manager’s heart skipped a beat. With Sierra and Nicholas both staring at him, he finally answered honestly, “Mr. Henderson and Mr. Gomez are waiting for you in the room next door.”
Sierra walked out at once, and Nicholas followed right behind her.
The neighboring door was already open. When Sierra walked in, she saw John sitting there perfectly composed, as if this had nothing to do with him. He barely glanced up when she showed up.
Their gazes met.
Sierra’s hands at her sides curled into fists without her noticing.
Before she could speak, Kenneth jumped in immediately. “My, Nicholas. Are you here to thank us?”
“I was wondering which idiot came up with such a trashy script. Turns out it’s this one,” Nicholas gave a cold chuckle, not bothering to hide his sneers at all. “Looks like you didn’t get any smarter at all after all these years.”
“Nicholas!” Kenneth’s temper shot up immediately.
Nicholas folded his arms. “I’m right here,
kid.”
Kenneth immediately shot to his feet. “I swear I’m going to…”
“Are you going to bark back at a dog when a dog barks at you?” John pressed a hand on Kenneth’s shoulder, his voice steady.
“Oh, the cheater’s here too,” Nicholas’s eyes turned to John. He didn’t stop his offense at all. “You and this idiot went to all this trouble for what? So you can say you cheated because Lil‘ Sierra cheated too?”
Kenneth gritted his teeth.
Nicholas kept on saying he was an idiot. The guy was just as detestable as always.
“Too bad for you, our Lil‘ Sierra isn’t that kind of woman.” Nicholas pulled a chair out for Sierra and let her sit. “And I am not some shameless homewrecker like Pamela, too.”
“Finished?” John’s eyes grew even colder.
“Nope.” Nicholas stayed by Sierra’s side like a shield. “What’s with that attitude, anyway? Don’t tell me that you can only make that mistress of yours cry out in only a few minutes.”
Kenneth’s mouth opened.
John was silent.

Sierra put a palm on her face. How had she forgotten just how relentless Nicholas’s mouth could be?
“If that’s really the case, you should make an appointment at the men’s health center,” Nicholas added, sounding almost sincerely helpful. “A short performance is one thing, but being that short is a medical issue. You need to see a doctor.”
“All this talk just to dodge what happened earlier,” John said, his calm untouched.
Nicholas asked, perfectly naturally, “What happened earlier?”
“You like Sierra.” John glanced at Sierra for two seconds, then looked back at Nicholas. “Don’t you?”
“Of course I do,” Nicholas answered without the slightest hesitation. “Everybody knows. What’s there to deny?”
Kenneth blinked.
John’s expression darkened.
Kenneth wasn’t sure what was happening anymore. “Was that a confession?”
“Can you just stop talking to me with that brain of yours that only understands romance?” Nicholas shot back, completely unworried. “In your world, is the only way you can use the word ‘like‘ when you’re romantically in love with someone? Friendship doesn’t count, does it?”
