Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 637

John's eyes first laid on Lance, whose face was full of guilt. Then, he looked at Nathan, who looked stern and slightly cold. "Mr. Lynch, did you need something from me?"

"What do you think?" Nathan stressed all four words.

"You can tell me." John stayed as polite as ever.

Nathan glanced at Sierra as she stepped out from behind John. In the end, he swallowed the words back down his throat. He stepped forward and deliberately shoved John aside so he could stand in front of Sierra.

"He didn't do anything to you, did he?"

Sierra shook her head. "No."

"You don't need to worry about who he is. Your father is here, so just say it." Nathan had his own agenda too. He was sure Sierra would not embarrass him in front of so many people. "No matter what it is, I'll stand up for you."

"We just talked a little about Tommy." Sierra was not used to discussing relationship matters with other people. "Nothing else."

Nathan did not believe her, of course. If they had really been talking about Tommy, did they need to come here? And get locked inside?

Something was definitely wrong!

"I'm going downstairs first." Sierra did not stay any longer.

"Alright," John said. "I'll come find you after I finish talking with Mr. Lynch."

Sierra gave a quiet nod and walked away.

Nathan frowned even more. What exactly had they talked about in there that made Sierra's attitude toward John soften this much? Before today, she had wanted nothing to do with him. Now, she was actually going to spend more time with him later.

That was not right.

"Mr. Lynch, you can say whatever you wanted to say now." John's tone was calm and easy. "Sierra isn't here."

"Don't think I don't know you planned all this," Nathan said as he stared at him, the warning in his dark eyes obvious. "You pretended to find her, then had your people lock the door from the outside so it couldn't be opened. You made yourself a chance to be alone with her. I know this trick well."

Lance opened his mouth, wanting to explain.

Nathan studied the man in front of him. The brat was much smarter than he had expected.

John was so sure Sierra would not believe it. Could it really be that he had not arranged this on purpose?

Nathan did not believe in coincidences, but if John had really done it and still kept Sierra from getting angry, then his methods were so well hidden that no one could realize it. If Sierra ended up with him, she would probably be manipulated before she even realized it.

"If there's nothing else, we might as well go downstairs together." There was nothing with John's tone. "Mom and Sierra are still waiting for us."

"Who are you calling Mom?" Nathan grabbed onto the smallest opening and started picking at it. "Don't go around claiming you're related to her."

John stayed unhurried. "Are you saying that the next time you call yourself Dad in front of Sierra, you want me to say something?"

Nathan fell silent.

Darn brat. Fine. You win!

"Other than your bias against me, you do approve of Sierra being with me." John's tone had stayed calm from start to finish. "You know very well that if she's with me, anyone who wants to touch her will have to think twice about their own strength."
