After saying goodbye to Anna, Sierra got into the car and left for the dinner with the Lynch family.

At the same time, Anna opened her contact list and sent Nathan a message.

[Sierra’s on her way. If anyone in the Lynch family gives her even the slightest trouble, I don’t mind hacking into your company and leak a few things.]

This was the first time Anna had messaged him on her own volition since they added each other as contacts.

Nathan replied quickly. [Don’t worry.]

Anna put her phone away and did not look at it again.

Meanwhile, Nathan asked Daniel, “Did you warn everyone?”

“No,” Daniel said.

Nathan frowned slightly. He was clearly unhappy with that answer.

Daniel was the one who wanted to invite Sierra, and he was also the one who had promised to speak to everyone in advance so Sierra would not become upset over anything. But now, he said he had done nothing?

“I asked them to come an hour early,” Daniel said. Despite his aging face, he was still sharp and alert. “By my estimate, they should all be here by now. If you have anything to say, now is the time,”

Nathan glared at Daniel. His instincts told him there was a trap there somewhere.

Daniel urged him, “Why are you still sitting there? Sierra will be here soon. Do you want her to hear those things that she didn’t like?”

“What exactly are you up to?” Nathan did not even bother addressing him respectfully this time.

Daniel’s expression did not change. “I asked Sierra to come for dinner so she could meet the other members of the family. What else would I be doing?”

Nathan stayed where he was, but Daniel started to get nervous instead. It was almost time. Why was Nathan still not talking to them?

“Are you going or not?” Daniel urged again.

“Not until you tell me what you’re after.”

Nathan had grown up surrounded by schemes, from major matters like Lynch Group shares to trivialities of daily life. He had lived calmly for more than twenty years, and they had barely spoken during that time. It was hard not to be suspicious when Daniel had suddenly started acting like this.

“Try not to have such a low opinion of me all the time,” Daniel said. “I did pull some strings against you and Anna back then, but Sierra is your blood. She’s part of the Lynch family. I wouldn’t go that far.”

Nathan ignored him.

Pulled some strings?

Daniel had obviously pulled all the stops back then.

“I only told them that Sierra would be coming over for dinner tonight.” Daniel knew he could not beat Nathan.

However, he was also worried that if this stalemate continued, everything he had planned would be ruined. “I said nothing else other than that.”

Nathan studied Daniel’s face, judging him quietly. “Are you sure?”

“What’s there to be sure about? You’ll know once you go,” Daniel said.

Nathan said nothing more as he stood up and left. He would know once he met them. There was no point in Daniel lying now.

When he arrived at the main hall, the other members of the Lynch family were already there.

When they saw him, everyone looked at him. Since he was the chairman of the Lynch Group, most of them greeted him with flattering words.

Of course, Cedric’s faction still could not resist making things unpleasant.

Nathan cared little. He only said what he had come to say. Once he finished, he reminded them, “Sierra is my only daughter, and I protect my own. I don’t want to hear anything that shouldn’t be said at the dinner table. Otherwise…”
