Kenneth was wondering why John was so calm after the plan had failed. It turned out there was a backup plan.
Everyone in Jade City knew Nicholas didn’t get along with the rest of his family. He and his father were always arguing, so much so that his father, Michael Young, once lost his temper and threw Nicholas out.
Nicholas left without hesitation and started his own business.
“Keep a close eye on Nicholas for the next two days. I want to know everything he does,” John instructed Robin, who was in the driver’s seat.
Robin nodded. “Understood.”
They waited another five minutes before John told him to drive off.
Sierra was unaware of any of this, but she knew that both she and Nicholas were probably being watched by John, at least for today.
After returning home, she moved her computer, tablet, and other tools to the table near the balcony in the living room and took on a commission from the internet.
Full–body character art was easy for her. She usually drew for large game contests and had always managed to win awards, standing out from millions of competitors and winning the prize money.
She didn’t draw for money back then, though. She was only doing it for fun.
It was different now, as she needed to earn a living using this skill. Full–body character art could fetch anywhere from hundreds to thousands. This time, she accepted a commission for three hundred. The requirements were simple, and she could finish in a
day.
Unfortunately, jobs like this were not available every day.
She drew the whole afternoon, non–stop for four hours.
Only when the alarm rang to remind her to pick up Tommy did she stretch her sore neck and head out.
Later that night, after Sierra put Tommy to bed, she sat down at her computer. She had just picked up her stylus to continue working when Nicholas called.
“Still awake?” Nicholas asked.
“Yeah,” Sierra answered.
“I just found a few companies that might suit you. I tagged you on Facebook. Take a look,” Nicholas said quickly.
Sierra checked it on her computer.
“I checked. None of these companies has any ties to John or Kenneth. You can send your resume without worry.” Then, before Sierra could say anything, Nicholas added, “They have nothing to do with me, either.”
After talking with Holly, Nicholas understood Sierra’s situation better. Since she was worried about it, he chose another way to help.
“Alright,” Sierra replied.
“Get some rest,” Nicholas said, not dragging things out after he finished talking about his main point. “Call me if you need anything. I’m always around.”
