"Can you handle these?" Anna glanced at the ingredients in front of John at the kitchen.
John nodded. "I can."
"Fine." Anna said with a calm expression. "I'll leave these to you. I have something else to work on."
John nodded again. "Sure."
Sierra had never expected John to win her mother over in less than ten minutes. After chatting with Cyrus for a while, she went out to the garden. She had just said a few words to Marcus and the others when her phone rang.
Seeing Nathan's name, she answered, "Hello?"
"Happy New Year, Sierra." Nathan's voice was low and slow. "Where's your mother? I called her just now, but she didn't answer."
Sierra then said, "She's in the kitchen. Her phone is charging in the study."
Nathan coughed lightly. "Can you give her the phone? I have something to say to her."
Sierra said okay. She was just about to walk away when Tommy suddenly called out, "Mom!"
Sierra stopped. "What is it?"
"Are we really eating Dad's cooking tonight?" Tommy's voice was bright and very loud. "He hasn't cooked for months. Is he still as good as before?"
Nathan, who was on the other end of the line, froze.
John?
Sierra patted Tommy's head. "He went three months without cooking last time but you still enjoyed it, anyway, didn't you?"
She was puzzled. Tommy was not picky, and he knew John's cooking better than anyone. Why would he suddenly say that?
"Sierra," Nathan called.
"I'll give the phone to Mom now." Sierra gently pinched Tommy's cheek and walked away.
Nathan's emotions became mixed. "Is John at your place?"
Sierra paused, then told him the truth. "He brought Cyrus over."
Two minutes later, he was chased out.
Cyrus and Nathan looked at each other.
Cyrus had expected this result long ago, while Nathan looked indescribably awkward.
"Let's have a chat?" Cyrus took the initiative to speak.
Nathan went over.
Cyrus chatted with him casually. "Looks like Anna was right not to choose you."
Nathan was confused.
Cyrus said, "You don't even know how to cook. That's a little useless."
Nathan retorted, "Who said I don't know how to cook?"
"If you knew even a little, would you have been chased out just now?" Cyrus's question hit the nail on the head.
