Chapter 69
It couldn’t have been because John enjoyed Pamela in bed.
The reason couldn’t have been something so ridiculous!
“You can go ask him,” Pamela said, steadying herself and forcing herself to look calm. “I promised I wouldn’t say anything.”
“If you refuse to tell me, then there’s no point in this so–called cooperation,” Sierra said, clearly dismissing Pamela. “Just focus on being his mistress.”
“Sierra!” Pamela did not expect that Sierra was still unmoved even after she was being so sincere.
Sierra lifted her chin and pointed toward the no–talking sign on the wall.
Pamela’s fists tightened at her sides as she lowered her voice.
“Seriously, don’t tell me you really can’t see how John treats you as a toy. As long as he isn’t finished toying with you, you’ll never be able to get away from him.”
Sierra had already known all of this very well. “Are you done?”
“I can give you a calm life,” Pamela insisted; she refused to give up. “Once you’re free from under his control, I can get all of his attention. That’s a win–win situation for both of us.”
“Can you have some dignity?” Sierra almost felt an urge to slap Pamela.
“I’m helping you,” Pamela said, sounding righteous.
Sierra had no interest in arguing any further. “Get out.”
“Think it over.” Pamela stood up, her fingers clenched tightly around her purse. “If you won’t agree to this today, I still have plenty of ways to force you to leave in the future. When are you going to start using your brain for once?”
Sierra picked up her own purse and hurled it at her.
There was a heavy thud.
“Ah!” Pamela yelped, clutching her forehead where the bag had hit her.
Sierra simply glared at her.
“What’s wrong with you?” Anger burned in Pamela’s eyes.
Sierra’s expression was very cold. “If you don’t leave now, the next thing I’ll be throwing will be that chair over there.”
“Just you
wait!” Pamela’s gaze turned brutal. “You’ll regret this!”
Sierra didn’t give Pamela another look. After Pamela stormed off in her heels, she slowly picked her purse up from the floor, her feelings complicated.
Sometimes, Sierra almost envied Pamela.
Only someone like Pamela could believe that a mistress paying the wife to walk away was some kind of kindness.
That kind of shamelessness made her and John a perfect match. No wonder Pamela could accept John keeping her as a mistress outside while he still had a wife.
Sierra’s phone suddenly buzzed.
It was a text from an unknown number.

[Your best days are done.]
Sierra blocked the number and deleted the message.
She knew it was from Pamela.
Leaving aside how crazy it was for Pamela to say those things to her as a homewrecker, there was no way Sierra would believe any of Pamela’s promises.
If even Nicholas and Holly couldn’t make John let go, how could someone like Pamela possibly change his mind, especially when she had no family background and not much brain power?
Pamela was still as cocky as she ever was, even after all these years.
What Sierra did not know was that John had seen everything that had happened clearly.
In an office on the top floor of the hospital, John and Kenneth sat in front of a computer, watching the feed from the security camera aimed at the hallway outside the operating room.
They had been there since Anna was sent in. At first, they only wanted to see whether the surgery was going smoothly and whether Sierra had told Nicholas about it.
