Pamela instinctively pulled John’s sleeve and tried to calm him down.

“Why not just let it go? It’s not a big deal. She doesn’t need to apologize. Besides, she didn’t do it on purpose.”

“It doesn’t matter whether she meant it or not. The point is that you got hurt,” John’s tone was cold and ruthless.

For a moment, Pamela felt all the blood in her body freeze.

John had spoiled Sierra completely for five years, but he was already this savage in just a few days of separation. If he ever found out she had lied to him, what would he do to her then?

She couldn’t imagine the consequences.

Sierra’s expression didn’t change.

Since she had chosen to come here, she had already prepared herself for John to make things difficult.

She looked back at Pamela and lowered her head slightly. “I’m sorry, Ms. Sanders.”

Pamela took a step forward. “John!”

“I need to talk to Sierra,” John said without turning his head. “Go back inside.”

Pamela wanted to stop him, but after spending this time with him, she understood him much better now. Chasing after him now would only irritate him.

In the end, the only thing she could do was to say, “Alright. Come home early tonight.”

She didn’t follow them out, forcing herself to swallow her unease as she returned to the bedroom.

Sierra thought John was out of his mind. She tried to pull her hand free, but he was just too strong. Her wrist turned red under his grip, and she still couldn’t break away from him.

“I didn’t expect you to be so spineless,” John said, leaning over her, pinning her against the backseat so she could not move. “I told you to apologize, and you did it.”

“Having a spine doesn’t pay the bills,” Sierra said, mirroring his own words against him. Her earlier stubbornness was already gone. “You were the one who taught me that, remember?”

John’s fingers tightened around her wrist.

He had spoiled her for so many years, and had never seen her lower her head.

Even when they argued and if he jokingly told her to admit she was wrong, she would pound on him with red eyes and insist she had done nothing wrong.

And now, she had lowered her head to Pamela for something this petty?!

The more he thought about it, the hotter the anger inside burned.

“If you know having a spine wouldn’t feed you, why did you insist on the divorce?” His gaze locked onto her, his eyes so deep it felt like they could consume her whole. “If you had just agreed to my terms, none of this would be happening!”
