Chapter 80
“This isn’t a discussion.”
John’s tone was firm as he spoke to Sierra.

“What makes you so sure life with you would be peaceful for Tommy?” Sierra pushed back, forcing down the fear he gave her.” Don’t forget that when you’re not at work, you spend most of your time with Pamela. Do you really want him watching the two of you acting like some perfect couple all day?”
John raised his eyes. He wanted to argue those disproportionate descriptions, but he stayed silent after some thought.
“You can have people protect him in secret, but he has to stay with me,” Sierra said, refusing to back down.
John looked at her, realizing that she would just keep trying to reason with him if he didn’t agree. In the end, he threw out three
words to her.
“As you wish.”
Sierra let out a sigh of relief.
In all honesty, she was afraid she couldn’t win against him. If John really insisted, she had no power to stop him. The divorce was not finalized yet; when it came to custody, both of them still had a say.
After leaving Lakeside Villa, Sierra went straight to the hospital.
John stood in the courtyard outside, watching her until she was gone from his sight. Only then did he call Kenneth. “Don’t tell Lucas anything about Sierra.”
“You’re more unpredictable than the weather,” Kenneth mumbled.
“Pull your people back. Stop watching him. Just treat him like any other employee at the bar,” John said, unhurried.
Kenneth froze for a second.
He had no idea what John was thinking anymore.
“If you do that, Lucas will definitely start trying to cause problems for Sierra again,” Kenneth reminded him. “It won’t be too hard for him to find out where she lives.”
“Just do it,” John replied.
Since she didn’t want him to handle her problems, he would give her exactly what she wanted.
He wanted to see how long she could keep this up.
“Fine,” Kenneth said.
After their last conversation at the hospital, he already knew he could not follow John’s line of thought.
“One more thing,” he added. “Lucas isn’t going to last much longer washing glasses. Once he quits, he’s going to emotionally explode.”
“Fine,” John’s response was apathetic at best.
Kenneth didn’t say anything else and had his men pull out.
When the call ended, John stayed in the yard, typing out a message to Robin on his phone.
Ever since Sierra left, Pamela had been standing at the doorway. When she saw John put his phone away, she finally walked over, a little intimidated by the pressure he gave off.

“John.”
John looked up and noticed something off in her expression. “What is it?”
“It’s nothing.” Pamela pushed down all the questions and fear churning in her chest. “I just wanted to say that you don’t have to go out of your way to defend me over things like this. Sierra is still your wife.”
John didn’t answer, and his pressure pressed down on her.
Pamela played with her fingers together nervously.
