Regrets Come Too Late (Sierra and Johnny) novel Chapter 9

When John said that, Sierra shook for a moment.

Right then, she finally saw him for who he was. She realized that ever since they had filed for divorce, they were nothing but

strangers.

The heaviness in her chest suddenly disappeared without a trace.

She reset her expression, her voice becoming distant suddenly. I’m not anyone important, but if you’d just returned my things from the start, none of this would’ve happened.

It’s just a suitcase. Do you really think John would want your things?Pamela chimed in, defending John.

He wouldn’t,Sierra replied. When she looked at the two of them, there was no more anger or pain in her eyes, as if she had drained all her emotions from herself at once. But I don’t want my suitcase getting contaminated in this place.

John’s eyes darkened.

Sierra’s tone stayed flat. Just give me my things, and I’ll leave.

She had finally let golet go of John’s sudden indifference and accept that he was now devoted to someone else.

Tommy saw me taking the suitcase,John reminded her.

With your resources, it’s not hard to buy an identical one,Sierra said, not even sure why she felt so numb so quickly. And I doubt you want us running into each other all the time.

John studied her, looking for signs that she was just throwing a tantrum, but no matter how he looked at her, all he could see was the strange calmness around her.

Bring Ms. Bell her suitcase from upstairs,John instructed his bodyguard.

The bodyguard nodded and went to get it. A moment later, a peachcolored suitcase was brought out.

Just as John and Pamela thought Sierra would turn and leave, she opened it right in front of them.

Pamela wasn’t sure what was going on. Sierra, what are you doing?

I’m checking if anything’s missing,Sierra said, her voice perfectly calm but her words provoking.

John bit his lip. He didn’t expect her to learn this fast.

You don’t trust John?Pamela tried to stir the pot. There’s nothing valuable in there, just some documents and certificates. Even if there’s something precious, he won’t bat an eye.

He won’t, but what about you?Sierra shot back.

JohnPamela could only whine.

Didn’t you want all the jewelry and handbags from my room this afternoon?Sierra closed the suitcase and, suddenly, everything seemed clear. But I don’t need any of it now. Trash belongs in the bin, so it’s just nice.

Pamela’s hands clenched at her sides, but she couldn’t make a scene in front of John.

I’ll have those things thrown out,John said before she could reply. Pamela won’t use anything you’ve touched.

Really?Sierra’s hand tightened on the suitcase. “But she’s still using you, isn’t she?

Pamela instinctively looked at John; his dark eyes were unreadable.

I’ll tell Tommy about the divorce tonight,Sierra said, looking at John with a hint of mockery. You’d better think of a good

excuse. Maybe he’ll hate you a little less.

With that, she turned and walked out, more distant than ever before.

Wait,John called after her.

Sierra stopped, then frowned at herself for still instinctively reacting to his voice.

John walked up. Give the card to Pamela. It’s not yours anymore.

Sierra took it from her bag. Ever since John and Pamela’s relationship went public, he had already frozen the card. She glanced at it, then handed it over.
