Chapter 91
John’s gaze grew darker as he watched what was happening with Sierra.
Morgan sensed the strange atmosphere between them and took the risk. “Mr. Henderson, I’ll give you and Sierra…I mean, Ms. Bell some space. I need to take a call outside.”
John hummed in agreement.
Morgan then shot the others a look. One by one, they softened their movements and slipped quietly out of the room. Sierra did not notice any of it as she was already in a daze thanks to the alcohol.
Once the door closed behind them, someone whispered in the hallway, “Are we really just leaving them in there? Is that alright?
“1
Morgan, who was more certain now of his suspicions, said, “It’s fine.”
“What about Sierra?” Mr. Smith glanced uneasily at the door. “Leaving her alone with Mr. Henderson… Is that really okay?”
Sierra was a very pretty woman, after all. They had only ever heard rumors of John. None of them really knew what kind of man he was. It was impossible not to worry.
“Mr. Henderson isn’t that kind of man,” Morgan said. He neither confirmed nor denied any relationship and refused to gossip. ” You can all go home. I’ll wait here.”
No one argued and left one after another.
Only Ivan stayed where he was. He had been the one to tell Sierra to come over. Leaving a young woman alone in there did not
sit well with him.
“Starting tomorrow, you don’t need to come to work anymore,” Morgan said.
Ivan froze. “Sir, I…”
“This is Mr. Henderson’s decision.” Morgan spelled it out. “Take some time off. Do whatever you want. Just don’t come around the company. Your salary will still be paid into your account as usual.”
If he still couldn’t take the hint, he had really wasted his time in this business.
Realization dawned on Ivan’s face as he hurried off happily.
The wide, luxurious hallway was soon empty except for Morgan alone.
He considered turning back to peek into the private room, but after a moment’s thought about John’s temper, he pulled out his phone instead and called someone to confirm exactly what kind of relationship John and Sierra had.
Inside the room, Sierra drank her fourth glass before setting it down with a thud. The alcohol had stripped away all her restraint.
“I’m done.”
John leaned back in his chair, eyes resting on her.
Because of the wine, most of the coldness and resentment had faded from her face. Her clear eyes were now bright with anger instead, fixed fiercely on him. When she caught his gaze on her, she recoiled.
“What are you staring at? I finished it,” she said, temper flaring.
John’s eyes traced slowly from her brows down to her lips, where the wine still glistened on her lips. His hand reached out and held her cheek, his rough thumb brushing across the corner of her mouth, wiping away the wine in slow motion.
The tingling sensation made Sierra jerk back and slap his hand away.
He didn’t get angry.
