Raven POV

“Come out, come out wherever you are,” he said in a singsong voice, the sound of rustling leaves and cracking twigs coming from a distance.

I shivered. I was cold, so cold. I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to hobble forward, my ankle badly sprained, my body covered in scrapes and blood. I used a large branch to balance myself, trying hard to keep moving, even when the pain was enough to make me scream. He could smell me, I was certain of it and that only further propelled me to keep moving, to ignore the throbbing pain in my ankle and just

move in order to survive.

They’d left early in the morning. I hadn’t paid much attention to the driver as he’d opened up the door and I had slid into the limousine. He’d been polite enough, a little distant but I had been more engrossed in the events that transpired last night to be bothered. The driver’s cap had been pulled down low, preventing me from seeing his face. I’d been content to look out the window, watching the scenery pass by. I was eager to get back to the packhouse and see Hades again, already trying to plan my next seduction. It had taken me some time before I realized something was wrong. Very wrong. None of these landmarks were familiar to me at all this was not the right road.

“This isn’t the way to Blood Moon Pack,” I tried to tell the driver, confused by the route we had taken.

There was, nothing to indicate where exactly we were. I spoke louder, trying to gain his attention. It could have been an honest mistake I tried to reason but my instincts were beginning to scream that this was planned, a setup of some kind.

“You’ve gone the wrong way.” I spoke again, louder, trying to draw his attention, even as I began to feel my stomach churning with dread.

“Have I?” his tone is nonchalant, blasé. He shows no sign of being worried, continuing to fix his eyes on the road and drive forward.
