Chapter 137
“Aeress,” my voice is thick with emotion as I tighten my arms around her, listening to the sound of her tears and her sniffling.
“You’re going to make a great mother. I’ve never met anybody as loving as you. Hell, you kept persisting with Hades even though he was a bit of a bastard,” I told her evenly as she looked at me with teary eyes, “and you’ve always been a rock to me and somebody to lean on. Jackson isn’t like your father. He’s a good man and he’s somebody you can trust to help you. He’s not going to abandon you. He would never. You have to tell him. Express your worries. You can’t go through this alone.”
The more she hesitated, the worse it would be. She needed Jackson to reassure her and support her.
“I’m afraid,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
“Honey,” I push a loose strand of hair back from her forehead and smile gently at her, “there’s nothing to be afraid of. You’re brave, remember. You can do this. Think about it. I’m sure when you tell Jackson, that he’ll be nothing but ecstatic.”
“You really think so?” She blinked back tears, beginning to cheer up slightly, “You think he’ll be excited.”
“He’ll be over the moon because that child is a part of the both of you. You’re mates. It’s not as though you’ve been celibate,” I coughed as she laughed, “it was bound to happen eventually. It’s a beautiful surprise.”
Honestly, I was surprised it hadn’t happened earlier, given how ahem, affectionate they were with each other and how much they looked at each other with lust whenever they thought I wasn’t looking.
I was certain that Hades would be delighted as well, even though he still found it difficult to accept that Aeress and Jackson were mates. He was growing softer, becoming more human.
“Thanks, Raven,” she rubbed her eyes as I leaned back in the chair, “you always know the right thing to say.”
“Is it true?” Jackson’s voice is a hushed whisper as he steps into the lounge room, his eyes searching as he looks at Aeress, who has stiffened on the couch. “Am I going to be a father?”
