“I’ll love you forever,” he said thickly, Grace nodding, tears trickling down her cheeks, her smile so sweet that it’s almost like sunlight.

“I’ll love you forever, too,” she whispered back, melting into his arms. For a moment, they stand there, wrapped in each other’s embrace, lost in their own little world, holding each other tightly as though afraid to let go.

That kind of love is rare and so strong it’s impossible to break. Well almost. MaryAnne had seen to it that my mother would find it hard to smile again in the years that followed.

“You bitch, I’ll kill you!” a voice roars, and my mother and father part as MaryAnne comes towards them, a knife in hand and a dangerous glint in her eyes.

There’s no hesitation in her movements as she rushes towards Grace. She wants to kill her. There’s pure rage on her face.

I wonder why she didn’t just shift and then realize that my mother was probably stronger than MaryAnne’s wolf. MaryAnne must have hoped she would get to Grace during a vulnerable moment. Stupid of her, but it also showed just how determined she was. Why oh why hadn’t my parents seen just how unhinged she was and taken everything far more seriously?

“Guards!” my father roars, and warriors quickly pounce on MaryAnne before she can get to the Alpha and Luna, tackling her roughly to the ground as she screams.

“I’ll kill you both,” MaryAnne screamed, flailing beneath the warriors, her eyes glinting dangerously in the light.

“Take her away! If I see you again, I won’t be so lenient!” my father barks, Grace, trembling as she moves closer, staring down at her sister with grief all over her face.

“You have to let this go, MaryAnne,” she pleaded, “you’re just making yourself miserable.”

“Never,” MaryAnne screamed, glaring up at her sister, “just you wait. I’m going to make you regret ever double- crossing me like this.”
