Raven POV

My mother, handed my father a pregnancy stick. My father’s eyebrows rise as he stares at the stick for a long moment, a look of awe coming over his face. They are slightly older now, but still quite young. She laughs and looks at him expectantly. He lets out a large whoop, rising from behind his desk and picking her up, twirling her around as she laughs and pats his shoulder, begging to be let down.

“You’re pregnant,” my father said, with tears in his eyes, “we’re going to have another baby, oh my god,” he laughed, his eyes wrinkling in the corners.

She nods, biting her lip. “Are you happy?”

He laughs again, the sound echoing throughout the room. “Happy?” he breathed, “I’m ecstatic, sweetheart. The thought of being a father again is the greatest gift you could ever give me,” he added with excitement.

“But what if it’s not another boy like Damien? I know that you might want another boy in case, so that you have a spare…”: she trailed off, biting her lip, a look of worry on her face.

“We have a boy,” he said warmly, “I don’t need a spare. Besides, the thought of a little girl just warms my heart. I hope she looks like you,” he said, and my mother began to cry, my father reaching out to hold her, his eyes twinkling so brightly that it took my breath away. “I just know that our baby is going to be as adorable as Damien and a little princess if she’s a girl,” he added, and my mother just cried even harder, my father holding her tightly as though it would hurt him to let her go.

Tears trickle down my cheeks. They looked so happy when they found out they were pregnant with me. It sickened me to know that happiness would be stolen away from them and that I would be separated from these people who had loved me from the very beginning. My childhood was stolen, my birthright gone, and my home with the very woman who took me from them. It was nauseating.
