Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 175

Chapter 175

“Sleep,” my father whispered, kissing her tenderly as she made a small groaning noise, nurses beginning to arrive to take me away and check me over.

My mother fell asleep; a smile curved on her lips, and her face smoothed out, causing her to look younger and more vulnerable.

Another movie. By now, I’m not sure how much more I can take. I know what’s going to happen. I know what’s inevitable. I feel my heart beating painfully in my chest. I don’t want to look. I don’t want to see it. I close my eyes but then feel them forced back open. Against my will, I’m forced to watch the heartbreaking scene in front of me. The loss, the devastation, the utter desperation as they fought to find me, to bring me home.

“Where is my baby?” My mother’s scream is heartbreaking, bloodcurdling as she looks at my empty bassinette standing in the corner of her bedroom, her sobbing loud and filled with anguish. “Why haven’t we found her, yet?

“We’ll find her,” my father’s voice is devastated as he pats her shoulder, “I have everybody on the lookout.”

“It was MaryAnne,” she whimpered, “she took our baby. I know she did. Daxton, she has our child.”

“I promise you, I’ll find our child. MaryAnne has an alibi,” he confessed as my mother’s eyes continued to well up with tears, “she was giving birth only a few hours after you. She didn’t have time…” he trailed off, a sob erupting from his own voice.
