Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 197

Chapter 197

I don’t hear you complaining, he shot back.

I grinned, unable to deny it. I wanted the hunters to hurt just as much as Lucifer did, but Lucifer got off on hearing the pain he was inflicting. His name wasn’t just for show; that was for sure and he more than lived up to it.

Another scream. I look over and see the last hunter being killed. I sigh, feeling tired, looking around at the dead bodies littered on the ground. It was going to be a hell of a job to clean up this mess. I grimaced, finding another reason to hate the hunters who’d dared to try to attack on my territory. Fuckers.

Raven. My eyes scanned the grounds concerned. I hadn’t felt anybody in my pack get majorly hurt, and to my relief nobody had died. Raven had done a great job in preparing for this. I should never have doubted her.

There was no sign of her. I shifted, scanning the grounds frantically and then mind-linked her, my concern evident as I fought to keep the panic from my voice.

“Raven, where are you? The hunters are all dead.”

My voice shook slightly despite myself. I couldn’t stop worrying she was injured, even though I hadn’t felt anything through the mate bond.

“With Marissa in the hospital wing. She’s hurt,” she answered tentatively, knowing I wouldn’t like this answer.

I exhaled deeply, clenching my jaw and struggling hard to keep my voice from exploding. I managed, just.

“Are you kidding me? That woman is nothing but trouble, and you’re helping her? She led the hunters here, Raven! How can you be so damn nice to her knowing that?”

My voice was still loud and filled with disbelief.

“She didn’t lead them to us. MaryAnne did, and there’s something else you should know that might make you a little more forgiving of her.”
