Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 207

Chapter 207

“Good, then you’re under no illusions about how this will work. I’m not in love with you, Marissa. I merely want to avoid the pain that rejecting you would cause us both. I hope you have no expectations of marking you or claiming you,” I added coldly.

Another look of hurt.

So be it. I wasn’t planning on acknowledging her. Maybe when she was stronger, or she showed me her true nature, I would consider the rejection, maybe take a chosen mate.

The thought of doing that caused my chest to burn.

Damn this mate bond. Curse the moon goddess for giving me such a horrendous mate.

I’d never resented fate so much.

“Also, you’ll be sleeping in the omega’s quarters,” I finished, folding my arms across my chest and eyeing her icily.

“But I thought,” she stammered.

I gave a bitter laugh that sounded more like a bark.

“What? You thought we would share a room,” I taunted as a lone tear trailed down her cheek, “I would never let my personal sanctuary be invaded by the likes of you.”

It was callous. Cruel. Just the way I intended.

“Sorry,” she whispered.

“Melody,” I shouted, and just like magic, the head omega appeared, hands folded in front of her, a respectful expression on her face.

“Yes, Alpha?”

“Marissa is a new omega. I would like you to personally show her to her new quarters. She’ll start tomorrow. Treat her just like any other omega. If she acts up, then I want you to inform me immediately,” I informed her as Marissa just stood there, not daring to protest.

Melody gave Marissa a once-over but was wise enough not to question me. I knew she would be strict with Marissa and wouldn’t give her any favors.

Not that Marissa deserved any.

“See to it that she has a uniform as well,” I added, remembering she didn’t have any clothes, “and if you could organize some basic clothes for her, that would be helpful. Nothing too extravagant but the comfortable and basic clothing that befits her status. Add the charges to the ledgers,”

“As you wish,” Melody’s voice was even.

“Is there anything else?” she questioned.

I thought about it. Nothing else came to mind. I slowly shook my head and waved a hand at Marissa.

“That will be all for now. Please take her now.”

Marissa shot me one last pleading glance, but I pointedly ignored her.

She gave a small sigh and then walked towards Melody, her whole body almost curling as she made herself look small.

Within moments, she had vanished from my sight.

I exhaled and ran a hand through my hair, breathing heavily.

You treated our mate so cruelly, my wolf argued, his voice sharp, you have no idea what you’re doing. She’s going to hate us, he added irritably.

I treated her as she deserved. I won’t be fooled by her, I won’t let her weaken me.

She’s a white wolf. She’ll only strengthen us.

You’ll thank me for this, I told him, frustratedly, I’m protecting both of us.

Are you? Or are you using this opportunity to punish her? She was a victim, too, Damien. It’s not all black and white when it comes to her.

Oh please. Don’t try to excuse her behavior. She had choices, and she made her decisions.

She was forced to. Can’t you see? Our mate is hurting, and you’re only making things worse.

She wasn’t forced to do anything. Raven is who we owe our loyalty. Raven is our flesh and blood. The sister I spent years trying to find, and the entire time, Marissa knew she wasn’t her sister. She kept Raven from us. She forced Raven to endure years of abuse. I missed out on so much of my sister’s life because of her!

She was afraid. She was scared!

You’re too soft. The mate bond is making you irrational. Give it time, and you’ll see that I’m right about her I

scoffed.
