Chapter 246
Third Person POV
A figure stepped out from the shadows as Johnathon ran for the door. All Aaron saw was a sudden slashing of claws and then the spray of blood as the shadow sliced his throat. The men tensed as his body dropped to the ground with a heavy thud, his eyes staring blankly at nothing. It had been so quick that nobody had time to react.
A woman stepped forward, her red ruby lips curved into a smile so chilling that the men shivered. Her hair was long and pure black, her eyes obsidian. Her complexion was pale porcelain. Aaron’s eyes widened as he drank her in. Her appearance had changed immensely, but he knew without a doubt he was staring at none other than MaryAnne Sinclair.
“You’re meant to be dead,” Aaron whispered in disbelief.
She threw back her head and laughed before eyeing him with amusement.
“I’m not dead,” she breathed, “In fact, you might say this is an improvement.”
“How did you do it? How did you trick us into thinking that body before was you?” Aaron demanded, the only one
left with a voice.
“Magic,” MaryAnne’s voice was nonchalant, “I always have a backup plan. This,” she gestured at herself, “was something I paid a heavy price for. I don’t regret it either,” she smirked, “but you shouldn’t have come here or tried to interfere. I don’t like my space being trespassed on.”
Smoke appeared around her body, and her smile grew wider.
“You’re a witch!” a man shouted, and she giggled.
“I’m no witch, just a woman with a strong desire for revenge and the determination to make it happen.”
She shifted, and Aaron gaped as she turned into a smoky grey wolf with red eyes. The men scrambled to get out of the way in the small apartment, several changing into wolf forms as they attacked her.
She killed them with ease, her wolf so fast it was a blur, her movements sharp and precise. There was nothing but satisfaction in her face as she killed, and Aaron was forced to watch as the men he trusted, the strongest warriors he knew, were felled by her until only Lucas and he remained.
She shifted back, licking the blood of her claws and standing there with smugness radiating off of her.
“This isn’t possible. I’ve never seen a wolf like that before. It’s bigger than…” Lucas choked behind him.
“Bigger than an Alpha wolf?” MaryAnne finished sweetly, “and stronger than a rogue? My wolf is superior to all of yours now, I’m no longer the weak MaryAnne you all remember. I’m improved. Nobody is going to be able to stop me now. I’ve waited so patiently for my revenge, and now it’s so close I can taste it,” she hissed, her eyes flashing.
“You’re not coming out of here alive,” Aaron declared as she arched a perfectly groomed eyebrow at him.
“Fight me then,” she encouraged, her voice steady as she addressed the two left in the room.
She looked at the dead wolves on the floor and tsked in annoyance.
“Urgh, they smell disgusting,” she wrinkled her nose.
Before the men could blink, she’d clicked her fingers, and the wolves turned to ash right in front of them.

“Better,” she said approvingly.
His men were gone. No signs of them remained. Even the ashes were vanishing as they stood there. Aaron felt a pang of guilt. He’d brought them here. He’d been arrogant in his assumption that everything was going to be fine, and he’d failed to even anticipate something like this.
Even Ronan was gone.
“You fucking bitch. Those were innocent men!” Lucas roared with grief in his voice.
