Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 247

Chapter 247

“We know you’re working with Alice,” Aaron snarled, “that she’s a traitor to the pack. You think she’ll protect you when her own life is in danger?” he threatened.

“So kill her,” MaryAnne shrugged unrepentently, “she was just a tool at my disposal. My success for revenge doesn’t hinge on her survival. Her own desperation to have Alpha Damien for herself was her own downfall.”

“You’re despicable. You’re not human,” Aaron said in disgust.

“Why? Because I won’t let myself be killed? Because thanks to my daughter, my clone was killed, and if she’d had her way it would have been me? Marissa betrayed me, and now she’s cosying up to one of my enemies as though nothing’s happened. She’s turned her back on me,” she snarled, “her own mother. I raised her. I gave her every chance to be successful, and she failed. As for Raven, well she’s always been a thorn in my side and my sister’s offspring. She doesn’t deserve to live, nor does her partner.”

“You call yourself a mother? You’re a disgusting waste of space,” Aaron said, shaking his head.

“Don’t,” Lucas said quietly, speaking into Aaron’s ear. “We can’t afford to antagonize her right now.”

“We’re both dead,” Aaron said in resignation, “there’s no other exits. I’ll attempt to hold her off while you grab the box and run for it.”

“The box won’t help us. Right now, we have to focus on survival and getting back to the pack,” Lucas murmured, ” and sacrificing yourself will mean less protection for the pack. I have an idea,” he added softly, “but it’s going to hurt a lot,” he finished grimly.

“Plotting against me, boys?” MaryAnne sneered, examining her nails carefully, “It’s a waste of time and energy. None of you is leaving this apartment alive.”

“Listen here bitch,” Lucas conveniently forgot about his own words and not antagonizing MaryAnne, “you talk a big game, but your arrogance is what’s about to undo you. A woman like you who thrives on hurting others, who has no conscience, is only going to get hers in the end.”

MaryAnne gave a throaty laugh, and Lucas took that time to grab Aaron by the arm and rush to the nearest window.

Realization dawned on Aaron as they got closer.

“Are you crazy?” he yelled.

“Die here or die out there!” Lucas roared and then both of them crashed through the window at the same time, their bodies propelling to the ground below them.

Aaron felt the wind in his hair as they fell and heard the sound of MaryAnne’s angry scream come from the ¡ apartment.

They both hit the ground with a heavy thud. Aaron lay there for a moment, blinking up at the darkened sky, unable to believe he was still breathing.

Pain washed over him. Lucas got to his feet first, limping painfully as he yanked Aaron to his feet.

Aaron groaned. His leg was broken, one of his arms, and he was certain several of his ribs were as well. Blood trickled from a large cut on his head. Lucas looked to be in the same rough shape.

“Come on,” Lucas shouted, dragging Aaron with him in desperation, “we can’t afford to die here. Move your ass,” he barked.

They stumbled down a nearby alley, breathing heavily and glancing constantly over their shoulders as they made it to one of their waiting cars.

Aaron quickly opened the passenger door, falling in and slamming it shut as he closed his eyes in pain.

Lucas got into the driver’s seat, a look of sheer pain on his face. He was perspiring heavily. Aaron feared he might fall unconscious before he could get them out of there.
