Chapter 285
The tears fell.
My fear for Aaron was overwhelming.
We turned as we heard wolves crashing towards us.
Marissa gave a smile as she let go and stepped back.
“See, they’re both coming.”
Two wolves halted in front of us.
“We’ll give you some privacy,” Marissa said softly and then shifted, her wolf and Damien’s running off together
That left Aaron.
He shifted immediately, striding towards me, his look filled with panic.
He grabbed me and raked his eyes over me.
“Are you hurt? Are you injured?” he demanded, “Do you have any idea how scared I was when I saw you take off with two rogues right on your heels? Never do that to me again,” he growled.
“I was trying to help,” my voice broke as I burrowed into his arms, “I didn’t want you to die,” I sniffled.
He was covered in blood. It was everywhere, on his face, in his hair, all over his body. I pulled back and looked at him, seeing the huge scratches on his body, seeing the bruises and pained look on his face.
“You’re hurt,” I cried.
“It’s nothing,” he said with an exhale, “Damien got to me in time. I was just taking one out when Damien killed the other one. I’m fine, Asher,” he added, but I didn’t believe him.
“Marissa saved me,” I admitted, “she’s quite impressive. I didn’t know she was a white wolf.”
Aaron nodded.
“Her fighting skills were abysmal when she first came here, but she’s worked hard and now she can fight really well.”
“We need to go back. I need to speak with Damien, find out how this happened.”
“Marissa seemed upset. Do you really think somebody allowed them to enter?”
“I don’t know. They might have just got lucky or seen a blind spot in our security, but rogues generally aren’t that clever. Generally, all they care about is killing and rushing blindly into territories.”
“Then it had to be intentional,” I mused, “but who would put their pack in danger like that? What if a child got hurt? Don’t they have a conscience?”
