Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

Raven POV

The after effects of the party last night can be seen clearly in the light of day as I sit at the breakfast table. Pack members eyes are bloodshot, several of them clutching their heads from hangovers. While the party had been for the Alpha and Lunas, there had been another one further away for the other pack members to celebrate and celebrate. Even Hades, I noticed with surprise, looked as though he had partaken in more alcohol than necessary, wincing at the sound of plates and cutlery hitting the table. I hadn’t taken him for the type of guy to get drunk.

“Raven dear,” Aeress beams widely at me, seated on the opposite side, Jackson busy tucking away into his food next to her. “How was your night? Did you meet anybody?” she pressed.

I can sense Hade’s eyes on me. I smile faintly at Aeress. “I met a dark, handsome stranger,” I improvised, tapping my fingers on my chin and looking at her mysteriously, “who rocked my world and then sadly,” I gave a dramatic sigh, giving an extremely still Hades a sidelong glance, “disappeared without a trace.”

“Did you sleep with him?” Aeress has no filter, no shame.

I can’t help but laugh even as Jackson gives her a subtle shake of his head, silently admonishing her.

“Not quite. But I wouldn’t have been opposed to it. There was just something about him,” I coyly picked up my fork and twisted it in my hand, “that just appealed to me.”

Hades grunts and returns to his food. Aeress gives a delighted clap of her hands. “Oh, how marvellous. It’s a pity, though. Maybe I can hook you up with somebody I know,” she suggested brightly, “I know a few men who would be interested in somebody as pretty as you!”

A low growl. Everybody looks around, confused, not sure where it’s come from. I keep my eyes on Aeress, a smile twitching at the corners of my mouth. The growl had come from Hades himself. Apparently, he did not like Aeress’s suggestion. So much for wanting to keep his distance from me or pretend that last night was a one time thing.
