Jackson looks at Hades, whose eyes are solely on his plate, swallowing nervously.

Aeress stands up, looking furious. “I’ve lost my appetite now,” she said coldly and then glanced at me, her eyes softening. “What are you up to today, Raven?”

“Me?” I’m surprised, “it really depends on what Marissa requires of me. I am her,” I coughed discreetly,” maidservant after all.”

“I’m sure that she can spare you for one day while she spends quality time with her fiancée,” Aeress spat out, looking at Marissa with a raised eyebrow, “isn’t that right, Marissa?”

She was almost daring Marissa to refuse, to piss her off even further.

My poor sister didn’t have the guts to go against Aeress. She nodded and looked at Hades, whose expression was inscrutable.

“What are you up to?” he asked his sister, his voice challenging her.

She smiled sweetly at him, “why I’m going to go and introduce her to Damien Shadow. He’s your age,” she put her fingers up and began to slowly raise one with each point she made, “he’s wealthy, he’s kind, he’s good humoured and I’ll wager, exactly Raven’s type. He’s perfect,” she turned to me excitedly, “I don’t know why I didn’t think of him before. The Shadow men are ever so nice,” she continued with enthusiasm, “I just adore Alpha Daxton and his son. If I hadn’t met Jackson and fallen for him, I might have just gone after Damien myself,” she revealed wickedly, causing Jackson to look at her indignantly.

“The hell,” Jackson glowered, “babe, do you have to hurt my feelings like that?” he pouted.

“Awe baby,” she cooed, instantly turning and pressing her lips to the top of his head as the anger faded from his face, “I’m just saying that he’s a great guy. You’re the only one for me,” she told him lovingly.
