Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 42

Chapter 42

Raven POV

“Jesus Christ, my brother’s face is like a thundercloud,” Aeress whispered, as we walked towards the Shadow Pack house, her eyes wide, “what on earth did you do to him?”

I shrug, acting casual, “nothing. He’s been more than,” I paused, “hospitable. Maybe he’s a little under the weather or something. Or it’s his time of the month,” I added darkly as she snorted.

I can hardly tell her the truth, her eyes might pop out of her head, and nobody wants to hear about their brothers lovelife. Besides, although we are friends, we aren’t quite that close yet.

She rolled her eyes. “Fine, don’t tell me the truth. I’ll find out eventually. Anyhow,” she gestures as two men come outside, both of them smiling widely as we pause in front of them. “I would like you to meet Alpha Daxton and his son Damien from the Shadow Pack. Aren’t they wonderful?” she exclaimed.

The men both resemble one another. Alpha Daxton’s hair is a mixture of black and silver, his eyes twinkling with good humour. His beard is coarse but neatly groomed and he’s tall, although a little shorter than Hades. He’s also in great shape for his age. His son Damien is a close copy of his father, only his hair didn’t have any grey in it and he was freshly shaven. His arms practically bulged with muscles, and he was as tall as Hades and looked young for his age, which if I remembered correctly, was the same as Hades. As impressive as Damien was, I wasn’t attracted to him at all. Hades was the only one who even remotely caused my heart to flutter. It was a shame, I thought studying him, because Aeress had been right. This boy, this young man, would be a catch for any woman lucky enough to draw his attention. Another lifetime, if I hadn’t met Hades or decided on revenge, I would have been tempted to date him and see if I could kindle a relationship with him. Aeress’s forced meeting was all for nought. I kept my thoughts to myself, however. I didn’t want to disappoint her when she’d gone to all this trouble of introducing me. Besides, it was fascinating to visit another pack, their grounds, and their home, vastly different from the Blood Moon Pack and River Moon Pack.
