Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 62

Chapter 62

Raven POV

“Good morning,” Aeress’s voice is bright and cheerful, despite the lateness of the day.

Almost overly cheerful. There’s something different about her. Something unusual. Jackson is nowhere to be seen, probably taking care of pack business, but Aeress looks totally relaxed, a magazine next to her on the couch. I examine her closely, taking in the rosy cheeks, the sparkling eyes, and the way she almost bounces as she moves on the sofa. She had gotten lucky last night, I thought with an inward grin and then my eyes zeroed in on her neck as her hair moved. Bingo. It was practically screaming out at me. I couldn’t help but smirk at her. It was about time. They practically acted as though they were in heat whenever they were together. I couldn’t be happier for her, as well as slightly envious. When would I be so lucky as to have a man mark me like Aeress? The thought of Hades flashed in my mind, only to be dismissed. He would never mark me. Not unless I could sway him, and I was going to do exactly that. I was going to make him forget all about Marissa. I just needed to be patient.

“You marked each other,” I said, sitting down next to her and looking more closely at it. “It’s so cute,” I added, touching it with my finger, noting the J inside the crescent moon. “It’s beautiful, Aeress, but how do you feel? I thought you were waiting for the right time?”

“Last night was it,” she sighed, beaming at me, “Jackson and I decided we didn’t want to wait anymore. Not even for Hade’s sake. I deserve to be happy and so does Jackson, so screw him,” she shrugged as I bit the inside of my lip, trying not to break down into laughter at the indignant tone of her voice.

“Congratulations,” I told her honestly.

She and Jackson deserved to be happy. They were so kind, so loving, so made for each other.

They were such a perfect couple. The exact kind of relationship I wanted for myself in the future. The way they looked at each other, it was like they were the only two people in the world. I was envious.

“Thanks,” she smiled widely.
