Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74

Raven POV

I’ve barely gotten out of the shower and changed when Marissa corners me, pinning me between her and the bathroom door. Her face is a blend of annoyance and pure frustration.

“Where the hell have you been?” she hissed. “I’ve been looking for you all fucking day.”

“It’s none of your business,” I shove her backwards, breathing heavily, unable to hide my own undisguised anger.

I hated it when she touched me. It repulsed me, and every time she did, I was forced to endure it. To put up with it. I was so close to lashing out, to putting her in her place and it took all my self control not to.

I was still emotional. I was still pissed off. I was still hurt, and I was still consumed by rage. I glared at her, wondering if Marissa had been privy to my mother’s little secret or if she genuinely had no idea. She’d never alluded we weren’t related by blood, but her treatment of me, left me thinking otherwise. She was a baby when it happened, but did she discover the truth about me later? Did her mother tell her in confidence? They shared everything after all. She had to have known, I thought, fuming, my eyes flashing at her indignantly. I wanted nothing more than to strangle her with my bare hands and I’m forced to remind myself of the plan in order to get myself to calm down.

Slap. She strikes me hard across the cheek. “How dare you fucking touch me. Did you forget who I am? Did you forget who you are?” she snarled, her fingers gripping my chin tightly, her long nails digging into my flesh. “Do you think you’re here to party or to live it up?” she continued angrily, “because you’re not here to make friends Raven. You’re not here to find somebody to spread your legs for and act like a whore. You’re here to help me remember,” she threatened, “you’re here to tend to my every need. You’re here as an omega, a maidservant. No man in his right mind would ever choose a wolf-less shifter as a mate and mother would never grant you the freedom to date anyone anyway.”

Her voice is filled with glee. There’s nothing more that Marissa loved than hurting me, either physically or emotionally.
