Chapter 82
Raven POV
“I’m exhausted, mother. Trying on all those dresses just took it out of me,” Marissa sighs, sitting on the chair in the bridal shop, putting a hand to her forehead and groaning dramatically.
If she was exhausted, I was doubly so. She’d been so demanding, so irritating, I’d had to bite the inside of my lip to prevent myself from losing my temper.
“Never mind, you can rest once you’re back at the pack. This was important,” her mother’s voice is dismissive.
Marissa pouts. “What difference is it going to make? It’s not like Hades will care anyway. I might as well be naked with the amount of interest he’s shown in the wedding, let alone me.”
Her tone is simmering with undisguised resentment. I try not to smirk, looking pointedly away as MaryAnne gives a heavy sigh.
That’s because he doesn’t like you, I thought silently, you’re just too stupid to realize it.
“Think of the photos that will be taken,” MaryAnne Sinclair soothed, “one day you’ll want to look back at them, and that’s when you’ll realize how important, looking beautiful on the day is.”
If that day ever happened, I thought to myself smugly. Marissa was still in the dark about my frequent sexcapades with Hades, but that was going to change. Soon enough, the truth would come to light, and her humiliation would be complete. It was just a matter of time until I got my sweet revenge and crushed her. But for now, my eyes fixed on MaryAnne Sinclair, simmering resentment rising inside of me as I fought to hold it back, my anger almost palpable. It was taking everything I had not to confront her, not to demand she give me answers.
