“What is that supposed to mean, Alpha Kins? What are you talking about?” I ask anxiously.
“We can’t talk here, Serene. It’s too dangerous. I can’t risk my kids being taken away from me or your husband snapping my neck,” he says, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a card.
“This is my number. Call me, and we’ll arrange where to meet and talk about this, okay?” he says, and I take it, slipping it into my purse.
“I’ll see you soon, Serene Gun,” he says, giving me a sad smile before walking away.
“Luna Serene, Alpha wants you inside immediately,” Beta Zack says behind me, startling me a little.
I turn around and glare at him. “Don’t ever do that again. You startled me,” I snap.
“Sorry, Luna,” he says, but I know he doesn’t mean it.
This Beta doesn’t have an ounce of respect for me. Then again, neither does their Alpha.
I walk in with him and take a seat in the front row beside him.
Minutes later, the council members arrive, and I notice the Alpha King is missing. Then again, he is barely seen at meetings. Rumors say he is vicious and unforgiving. I’ve also heard that his wife died years ago, turning him
into a beast.
The trial begins. It involves a cheating Alpha-he cheated on his Luna with her own sister and even had a child with her. All the Luna wants is to break the bond between them for good, and there is a witch here willing to do
that.
After several hours, the trial ends, and everyone steps outside.
I need a place to pee, so I do the most logical thing: go around the building and ask a random pack member f help.
But I stop in my tracks when I see the Luna, whose trial we just witnessed, standing at the corner with her hands on her waist.
“Please, Casma, you don’t have to leave. I am your mother, and I didn’t want you getting hurt. It was so obvious Rhys didn’t love you anymore. He was in love with your sister. When she finally told me what was happening after I confronted her, I was furious, but I couldn’t tell you. I couldn’t be the one to ruin our family, and I thought Rhys would have told you,” the older woman begs.
“Yeah, and keeping it a secret really helped me, Mom. You don’t even deserve that title. You and your entire family betrayed me, and I will never forgive you. From today onwards, you cease to be my mother, because that woman died five years ago,” she says and walks away, leaving the woman to sob.
Well… that was surprising.
I can’t bear the thought of Mama betraying me.
The next morning, I get ready for us to leave. As I sit in the lounge area waiting for Zander, he appears, but he

doesn’t look like someone who is ready to leave yet.
The moment he gets closer to me, I am on my feet. “Alpha, aren’t we leaving yet?” I ask, bowing my head down.
I don’t dare look at his face-I am scared shitless of what he might do.
Seconds pass, and I hear him sigh. Then I feel fingers under my chin, making me flinch slightly.
He gently lifts it so I can look him in the eyes.
“Stop calling me that, okay? We are equals. You are my mate and wife-my Luna-so please call me Zander. I know I hurt you in the past, but I am sorry, okay?” he whispers softly. 1
I do nothing but nod, not only because I am surprised but also because I am perplexed.
“In fact, I want us to start over. Since we are bonded for life and you might be carrying my heir, I want us to live like a couple-to tolerate each other, at least for the sake of our unborn baby,” he says, and I look at him weirdly.
“Which… which unborn baby? I am not…” I trail off.
I am not pregnant. I can’t be pregnant now. Or maybe I am.
‘Ria, is there someone living inside me?’ I ask shakily.
‘I don’t know, but I feel weird, like suddenly protective of you. So does Atlas,’ she replies, equally scared.
“I know you haven’t started showing symptoms yet, but I can smell the new scent, and Atlas has suddenly become overly protective,” he explains, and I step back, my hands immediately moving to my flat tummy.
No.
No…
I can’t be pregnant. I am not ready. I begin to shake uncontrollably. I am worse than my sister!
“Hey, hey, hey, calm down. Don’t panic,” he says, pulling me to his chest.
He gently begins to rub my back up and down soothingly.
“I am going to treat you right this time. For the baby, I am willing to work things out with you, forget about my revenge, and all. Crystal is getting better and is willing to let Liana go” he says, but all I do is shake my head.
I don’t want to try with him. I can’t. I just can’t. My sister….
Yesterday, after my mini breakdown, Zander surprisingly treated me to a special lunch outside.
Today, too, he is treating me to breakfast outside the city.
“Where are we going, Zander?” I ask as he drags me toward what looks like a hilltop.
