Ryan’s expression shifted dramatically, his voice low and tense. “What happened?”

Sophia didn’t have time to go into details. She just told him that May might have been abducted in Emily’s apartment building and could be in grave danger at any moment.

She told him to go find someone to help, and meanwhile, she called Julian, telling him to communicate with the police.

Ryan had just come back from a business trip to Menolia, hoping to get in touch with May under the pretense of work. But the moment he arrived at her law firm, he found Sophia looking totally panicked.

He couldn’t let Sophia rush off on her own, so while still on the phone, he hurried her into his car. Ten minutes later, they arrived at Emily’s apartment.

Ryan told Sophia to wait downstairs while he and his team headed upstairs first. Even though worry gnawed at her, Sophia knew she couldn’t be a burden at such a critical moment.

So she stayed just outside the lobby, anxiously waiting for the police and Julian to arrive.

Ryan arrived at Emily’s door with his bodyguards. The lead guard exchanged a quick signal with the others behind him, silently telling them to be on standby and wait for his word to rush in.

Just moments later, they forced their way inside. Four bodyguards quickly pinned down the two men inside the apartment.

Ryan hurried in, heart pounding, and immediately saw both women tied up in chairs.

He rushed straight to May. Seeing her slumped and unresponsive sent a jolt of panic through him. He quickly untied the ropes binding her and tore the tape from her mouth.

“May, wake up. May!” Ryan called out.

Seeing no sign of her waking up, Ryan scooped her up in his arms and said, “Two of you stay here and keep an eye on them until the police arrive. The rest of you, take Ms. Carter straight to Remony Medical Center.” “Yes, Mr. Howard,” the bodyguards answered.

After issuing the orders, Ryan hurried out carrying May.

But when he got downstairs, Sophia was nowhere to be seen.

Just then, Julian arrived with the police.

Seeing Ryan carrying May, he asked anxiously, “Mr. Howard, what happened to May?”

Ryan’s face was grim. “They must’ve drugged her. I need to rush her to the hospital right now.”

Julian nodded and then asked urgently, “Where’s Sophia?”

Ryan’s heart sank. “When we got here, I was worried about danger upstairs, so I told her to wait downstairs for you. But when I came back down, she was already gone.”

Julian was tense, and just then, the security guard from the apartment building rushed out of the security office, clutching his bleeding forehead.

He shouted, “Officer, please help! Three men barged into our building just now. I tried to stop them, tried to make them sign in, but one of them just grabbed me without a word, dragged me into the security office, and beat me up.

“Look, my head’s bleeding. And just now, a gorgeous woman got snatched by the other two guys. They hauled her right out!”

Julian and Ryan froze, horrified by what they’d just heard.

“Mr. Howard, you get May to the hospital first. The police and I will go after Sophia,” Julian said urgently.

Ryan nodded, gently settled May into the car, making sure to buckle her seatbelt with quiet care, though worry was written all over his face.

Once he got behind the wheel, he immediately called Easton.

Ryan directly said, “Easton, your ex-wife has been kidnapped.”

Easton had just arrived at the airport and was about to catch his 3 P.M. flight to Menolia for a business trip when he got the call from Ryan.

As Ryan recounted what had happened, Easton felt a chill run through him, his blood turning cold and his fingertips going numb.

Easton immediately told Gordon to turn the car around and head back to the city. Then he called Stella,

Stella had just wrapped up a live news broadcast and was walking back to her office when her phone rang. She picked her phone up and saw Easton’s name flash across the screen.
