Stella was completely shocked. “Crippled? How did this even happen?”

Catherine glared at her, then looked back at Nicolas lying in bed, heartbreak written all over her face. “How would I know? The cops found him half-dead on the side of the road, stripped and bleeding all over.

“And instead of catching the ones who did it, they put out a warrant for him. They’re accusing him of rape, drug trafficking, running illegal casinos, even kidnapping-several charges all at once.”

Stella sneered, thinking, ‘Great. He’s crippled and probably facing decades in prison. Serves him right.

She said, “Nicolas brought it on himself. I even tried to help after it happened. I’ve done my part as a sister. It’s more than enough.”

Catherine, blazing with fury, slapped her again. “You ungrateful brat. The Weston family raised you for so many years. How can you be so cruel?”

Stella clutched her stinging cheek, glared daggers at Catherine, and stormed out.

There was no way she would let herself get dragged into this mess. She would put on a show for Easton. She would play the righteous sister who sacrificed family for justice.

A week later, the news broke that Nicolas had been officially arrested, and it was Stella herself who delivered the report.

She spoke with outrage, listing all the awful things he had done. Viewers flooded the comments calling her honest, fair, and brave, saying she was a reporter with real integrity.

Soon after the broadcast, she called Easton. “Easton, I’m so sorry. Nicolas was a bastard. Thank God Sophia is fine. If anything had happened to her, I’d never forgive myself.”

Easton’s tone was quiet and distant, stripped of any warmth. “This has nothing to do with you. Sophia will understand.”

“Easton, you won’t hate me because of Nicolas, will you?” Stella asked, her throat tight.

Easton said, “You’re overthinking it. It’s late. Get some rest. I’ll visit David in a few days.”

Hearing Easton’s reply, Stella felt secretly relieved. She knew that Easton wasn’t blaming her after all.

Sophia watched the live news at home and couldn’t help being impressed that Stella had sold out her own brother and still managed to come out looking like a hero.

That was impressive.

However, Sophia wasn’t about to let her win.

Sophia picked up her phone and called her contact in Japoria. “Hey, did you take care of what I asked?”

The man said, “Relax, babe. I broke into the Weston Group’s servers myself and sent everything to your email.

Sophia smiled and said, “Thanks. Nice work.”

He said, “Come on, it’s always a pleasure working for you.”

“Alright then, talk later,” said Sophia.

Sophia fired up her laptop, opened up the files her contact sent over, and quickly went through everything. Once she confirmed there were no mistakes, she emailed them anonymously to Jenston’s tax department.

She made sure to hide her IP address.

The next morning, Sophia was jolted awake by her phone ringing. Half-asleep, she reached for it and saw May’ s name flashing on the screen.

May laughed. “Sophia, was that you?”

Sophia quickly moved the phone away from her ear; May’s crazy laughter was deafening.
