109 Chapter 109
109.Chapter 109
Sophia propped herself up against the headboard, totally chill. “Just as expected.”
“They’re probably running around trying to pull strings and hire lawyers. Don’t worry, Brightway Law Firm definitely won’t take their case,” May said.
May’s words really had Sophia cracking up.
May said, “With Stella in this mess, Easton might step up and fix things for her. He’s got some power in Jenston. He helped with Nicolas’s case before, and this time, it’s his girl who’s in trouble. Do you think he’ll-”
“That’s their business,” Sophia said calmly. “I got what I wanted. Whether Easton helps Stella or not is none of my concern.”
“That’s true.” May chuckled.
When Stella returned to the Weston residence, she went into a frenzy, sweeping everything off her dressing table.
Catherine walked in and frowned. “What’s wrong with you? It’s already a disaster here, and now you’re acting up again.”
Stella shot Catherine a glare, her face twisted in anger. “This is all on you. Why did this mess have to explode right when I’m competing for the deputy director position?”
Catherine slapped her across the face to shut her up. “How ridiculous. If you weren’t too useless to keep Easton by your side, Nicolas wouldn’t be paying the price.
“I know you only used Nicolas to secure your shot at becoming deputy director, and now it’s payback time. If the Weston family goes bankrupt, your career’s over, and Easton won’t want you anymore.”
Stella clutched her face and sprang up, fury burning in her chest. “If you hadn’t encouraged me to study abroad back then, I would’ve married Easton long ago. Do you think I’d have had to go through all this now?”
Catherine sneered. “Stella, you’re my daughter, and I know exactly what’s in your head. You heard rumors long before the Foster Group’s finances fell apart, didn’t you?
“Easton was willing to marry you back then, but you thought life with him would be too tough, so you hid behind the excuse of going abroad.”
Catherine continued, “Too bad you miscalculated. The Foster Group gained some temporary support from allying with the Roth family through marriage, but Easton was the one who saved it.
“In less than a year, Easton revived the Foster Group from near collapse. When you learned about it, regret hit you hard, but he was already married. Unwilling to give up, you chased him all the way to Menolia.
“You happened to be pregnant at that time, and that’s the only reason Easton treats you well. You know it’s not love.”
Stella’s face turned pale as Catherine exposed everything she had tried to keep hidden. For a moment, she just stood there, feeling like she’d been seen through.
Catherine barked, “Quit your useless screaming. You’d better pull yourself together and go to the Foster Group to beg Easton for help.
“He managed to fix everything for the Roth family back then. With his influence in Jenston, helping you would be nothing more than a piece of cake for him.”
Catherine finished her words, slammed the door, and left.
Stella bit down hard on her lips as she stared at her own disheveled reflection in the mirror, hatred boiling in her chest. “Sophia, I know this was your doing. Just wait, I’ll make sure you pay for it.”
