Gordon said as he walked in with a folder, “Mr. Foster, Mrs. Irene Foster wanted you to give her a call once you’ re finished here.”

“Okay,” Easton replied.

Easton grabbed his phone to call Irene. Once the call connected, he gestured for Gordon to leave the room.

“Grandma, what’s wrong?” Easton asked.

Irene said, “I’m sure you’ve already seen the news, so I’ll get straight to the point. No matter who comes asking for help, especially Stella, you are not to help the Weston Group in any way.”

Easton frowned. “You seem to have some prejudice against Stella.”

“It’s not prejudice. I just don’t like her, and I don’t want you to get involved in that mess,” Irene replied seriously.

Easton said, “This isn’t something I can fix even if I wanted to. The Weston Group is under public fire, and too many parties are involved. There’s nothing I can do, so you don’t have to worry.”

After hanging up, Easton called Gordon back in.

He said, “Get the files ready. We’re heading to the airport in an hour. The Menolia branch can’t wait any longer.”

“Got it, Mr. Foster,” Gordon replied.

Grace stood by Irene’s side and asked curiously after she hung up, “Mrs. Irene Foster, you’ve never stepped into Mr. Foster’s matters before, whether it’s business or personal.

“I’ve noticed you’ve changed a lot since Mrs. Foster returned.”

Irene hobbled to the bed, gripping her cane, looking at the wide lawn. Her expression suddenly grew serious. Back then, Sophia divorced Easton without telling me. By the time I found out, it was too late. There was nothing I could do to stop it.

“Since she was determined to leave, I would let her go and chase her own dreams. I have always supported her, as long as she comes back to us eventually.

“In my heart, only she can be the daughter-in-law of the Foster family. As it was in the past, the chosen one for marriage can only be her.”

Irene continued, “I didn’t say anything before because the timing wasn’t right. Now that Sophia has returned, Easton has also shifted the Menolia branch’s focus back to Jenston. Everything is just right.

“I know Easton very well. A man may be captivated by a woman at first sight, but whether a relationship lasts depends on a deeper, mutual attraction of the soul.

“Sophia is a capable young woman, and she’s beautiful. I’m certain that sooner or later, Easton will fall in love with her.”

And above all, Irene reminded herself that they even had a child together.

She would turn a blind eye if Sophia chose to keep this from her. She had no intention of using the child as a lever to bind Easton to Sophia. That wouldn’t be fair.

When Stella rushed to the Foster Group, the receptionist told her that Easton had left for the airport with Gordon about an hour and a half earlier.

Feeling disappointed, Stella headed back and tried to call Easton, only to find his phone was switched off. Just then, Minnie called. “Stella, I had someone check on the Weston Group documents. They were sent to the tax department from an anonymous email early last night, with the IP deliberately concealed.

“Even professionals couldn’t trace it. What’s striking is that the documents are identical to what’s stored on
