111.Chapter 111
“Got it. What about my father? Is he all right?” Stella asked, still anxious about his situation.
Minnie said, “Don’t worry. I’ve taken care of him, and no one inside will make things difficult. Still, the proper procedures must be followed. I’ve privately passed him a note, so he can be careful when giving his statement?
After hanging up, Stella left the Foster Group.
She realized Easton had already flown to Menolia and that the only person she could count on had left Jenston. It seemed that the Weston Group was doomed this time.
Now, Stella could only rely on Minnie’s connections, hoping they might reduce the Weston Group’s penalties.
Half a month later, May came to the Crestview Group for a meeting.
Sophia had just returned to the office from the hospital.
“Ms. Roth, do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for you in your office? May teased, pretending to be annoyed.
Sophia smiled, linked arms with her, and led her over to the couch.
She said, “I went to the hospital to see Mrs. Irene Foster. I knew you were coming, so I came back early. Don’t be mad. I’ll make you a cup of coffee.”
May instantly perked up. “Nicolas has been sentenced. Across all his charges, he’s been given thirty years.”
Sophia nodded with a smile. “That’s pretty much what we anticipated.”
May added, “Also, I just got some insider news from the court. The Weston Group has been ordered to pay nearly 650 million dollars in back taxes. It’ll probably take them a long time to recover.
“What surprised me most is that Easton didn’t help them at all.”
Sophia set the coffee down and sat beside her, calm as ever. “The day the Weston Group ran into trouble, Easton was in Menolia on business.
“And when I stopped by the hospital, Grace told me Irene called Easton and told him to stay out of the Weston Group’s mess.”
May flashed her a thumbs-up. “Irene did a great job. If she hadn’t warned Easton, he probably would have helped Stella.
Sophia just shook her head. “Who knows?”
The truth was, Grace told her that Easton never planned to get involved with the Weston Group, but Sophia
couldn’t tell if it was true.
She thought, ‘Given Easton’s relationship with Stella, it was impossible for him not to help her. Why did he do nothing? Could it really have been because of what Irene told him?”
Sophia didn’t bother investigating his motives any further. She grabbed the files and headed to the conference room with May.
With the Grandview Estate about to launch, the project department at Crestview Group was working overtime every day.
May stayed in the office all day to keep Sophia company.
Just then, the breaking news tone went off, and May immediately reached for her phone.
Sophia’s phone buzzed with a notification at the same time.
There were articles with shocking hashtags, (Easton, CEO of the Foster Group, secretly meets news anchor Stella late at night] and [The Weston Group faces heavy taxes, but the Foster Group’s funds handle the fallout).
May’s eyes widened at the juicy headlines, and she shot a quick look at Sophia, who was sitting calmly in her chair. She asked cautiously, “Sophia, did you see?”

Easton had not returned home immediately after his late-night flight; he had gone straight to Stella’s place.
