128 Chapter 128
128.Chapter 128
Ryan flashed a bright smile as he called out from behind them, “Long time no see, Ms. Young.”
May rolled her eyes at him. She then said, “Sophia, let’s go. We’ve had enough fun.”
It finally clicked for Sophia-so that was why May had hurried her away earlier. She must have noticed Ryan and Easton from the start.
Sophia gave Ryan a polite smile and said, “Mr. Howard, we’re heading out now. Maybe we can catch up another time.”
“Sure,” Ryan replied.
Sophia walked right past Easton without a second glance.
Ryan watched them leave, then turned to Easton and asked, “Mr. Foster, the ladies are gone. Are we still going to ride?”
Easton ignored him and galloped off across the lawn.
Ryan teased, “Mr. Foster, weren’t you here for Ms. Roth? She’s already gone-how can you just stand there and not care at all?”
Easton remained cool as ever as he said, “Annie asked me out to dinner tonight.”
Ryan’s eyes widened in sudden realization. Easton’s showing up at the stables was merely for appearances; the dinner tonight was where it really mattered.
He ticked his tongue and said, “That’s impressive, Mr. Foster. First, you send your competition packing to another country, then you keep creating these accidental run-ins. I gotta say, you’re a master at this-maybe I should start taking notes.”
Easton looked toward where Sophia had just disappeared and said, “If I want something, no one’s taking it from me without a fight.”
After handing their horses back to the staff at the stables, Sophia and May returned to the clubhouse-just as Julian and Annie walked in.
“Sophia, you guys finished riding already?” Julian said.
“It’s all because we bumped into those two annoying guys,” May replied.
May took a sip of water, forgetting for a moment about Annie and Easton’s relationship. After she realized what she had just said, she quickly covered her mouth and gave Sophia a sheepish look.
Annie noticed May’s little move and couldn’t help but laugh. She said, “I just ran into Easton and Mr. Howard,
too.”
Sophia just smiled and didn’t say anything.
That evening, Julian and Annie invited Easton and Ryan out for dinner. Not wanting to embarrass Annie, Sophia just quietly went along and showed up at the hotel, too.
When the four of them arrived at the private room, Easton and Ryan were already there.
“Easton, have you guys been waiting long?” Annie asked, slipping into the seat right next to him like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Julian poured Annie a glass of water and set it down on her right side.
Sophia’s lips curled in a faint smile. She thought, ‘Julian’s actually got some potential after all.
Easton replied, “Not long. We just got here, too.”
Once everyone was seated, Easton signaled Gordon to let the hotel manager know it was time to start serving the food.
Sophia raised her glass to Ryan in a toast and said, “Mr. Howard, the Angel Fund is moving along really well. After last month’s board meeting at Remony Medical Center, your finance team sent over the stats.

“I took a look-tons of patients already got their surgeries at your place, and the recovery rate is over ninety percent. That’s awesome, seriously, thanks a ton.”
Ryan said, “Ms. Roth, you flatter us. That’s just what Remony Medical Center is all about. But honestly, we should be thanking Mr. Foster.
“Not only did he donate 15 million dollars to the Angel Fund from his own pocket, but he also got us a bunch of new medical equipment for the hospital. He is such a generous guy.”
Then Ryan raised his glass and clinked it with Easton’s.
Easton didn’t say anything; he just leaned back in his chair with a faint, unreadable smile on his face.
Sophia lowered her gaze and took a sip of her red wine.
Gordon chimed in, “Ms. Roth already gave Mr. Foster a framed piece of vintage calligraphy from the 1800s as a thank-you, and he went and hung it front and center in his office.”
He mentioned it like it was just some random tidbit.
“I should drop by Easton’s office in a couple of days-I’m kind of obsessed with calligraphy,” Annie chimed in, slipping some food onto Julian’s plate as she spoke.
Sophia could only roll her eyes inwardly. She grumbled inwardly, ‘Seriously, can you guys not make everything about me for once?’
