Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 134

134 Chapter 134

134.Chapter 134

“Don’t you recognize me?” Easton asked.

Lucas looked a bit startled and instinctively took a step back. He replied, “I do.”

Easton grinned and said, “Then how come you didn’t say hi when you saw me?”

“I don’t want to,” Lucas mumbled, nervously squeezing his little fists.

Easton laughed. He crouched down so he was eye-level with Lucas and asked, “Why?” “Because you’re David’s dad, and I don’t want to talk to you,” Lucas replied.

Easton narrowed his eyes a bit and asked, “Are you in the same class as David?”

Lucas nodded, then said in his sweet, childish voice, “Sir, is it okay if I don’t talk to you?”

Just then, Mia came over with his little backpack. She said, “Lucas, let’s go. The car’s here.”

Easton stood up and watched as Mia took Lucas by the hand and led him away, and for a moment, his heart softened.

After Julian and Annie’s wedding reception, Sophia didn’t make it back to Grandview Estate until ten o’clock that night.

Mia had just come out of Lucas’s room.

Sophia slipped off her shoes and asked, “Is Lucas asleep?”

“Yes, but he seemed a bit down today,” Mia replied.

Sophia asked, “Did he say why he was upset?”

Mia explained how Lucas had bumped into Easton in the garden today.

Sophia said, “Alright, you go get some rest. I’ll have a good talk with him tomorrow.”

After her shower, Sophia stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, deep in thought. She really understood what Lucas was going through. In Japoria, being a single mom was pretty common, but things were different here.

When kids started comparing themselves to one another, it was easy for them to start feeling self-conscious. All because Lucas didn’t have a father.

Sophia felt a pang of regret. She thought, ‘Did I make the wrong choice bringing Lucas back to Jenston? Maybe he really would’ve been happier if he’d stayed in Japoria.’

The news about Julian and Annie’s wedding had been blowing up online for days, and somehow, photos of Sophia and Easton ended up splashed all over the headlines, too.

May drove over to Grandview Estate to pick Sophia up for work. In the car, she said, “The entertainment media in Jenston is just ridiculous. They’re even dragging up all that ancient drama between you and Easton again.”

Sophia didn’t pay any attention to the news. Ever since she came back to Jenston, she’d been bombarded with this kind of stuff. She replied, “It’s fine. I’m totally immune to it now. Can’t touch me anymore.”

May chuckled and said, “But honestly, some of those photos of you and Easton look really good. My old man was having coffee last night and said with real regret, ‘What a shame such a beautiful couple got divorced.”

Sophia said, “What other daughter calls her dad old man like you do?”

May grinned and said, “No one but me, I’m sure.”

Sophia had been completely tied up with the final round of bidding for the southern development project these past couple of days. Since coming back to Crestview Group, she’d barely stepped out of her office.

Emily knocked and came in. She reported, “Ms. Roth, I just got a call from the operations director at Rothea Designs. He asked you to call him back when you have a moment. It’s a bit urgent.”

Sophia looked a little confused but nodded. She said, “Alright, I’ll call him back in a bit.”

After Emily left, Sophia set aside her work, picked up her phone, and walked over to the floor-to-ceiling

window to call the director.

The director said, “Evan, do you have any time to come back to Japoria soon? We’ve run into a problem with the new project, and we really need you to handle it in person.”
