As soon as Sophia got off the plane, her phone rang. It was Jason, the operations director at Rothea Designs.

Jason said, “Evan, my car’s parked right outside the airport. You’ll see me as soon as you walk out.”

“Sure,” Sophia replied. She quickly pushed her suitcase out of the terminal.

Upon seeing Jason, Sophia greeted, “Hey, Jason, it’s been a while.”

They exchanged a brief hug.

“You look even more stunning than before,” Jason said.

“No wonder everyone at the company says you’re such a charmer. You really know how to make girls smile,” Sophia joked with a grin.

“Hey, I’m just being honest, Jason replied, holding the car door open for her with a playful smile.

“Hop in. First stop’s the construction site-let’s hear what they’ve got to say,” Sophia said.

Once they were both settled in, Sophia and Jason naturally shifted their conversation to work matters. Sophia had barely had a moment to breathe these days-she was running on empty, handling demanding clients and frantically trying to fix the serious problems that surfaced with Rothea Designs’s latest project.

In less than five days after landing in Japoria, the grind finally caught up with her, leaving her bedridden and sick.

That evening, May called and asked, “Hey, sweetie, is your cough any better?”

Sophia took a sip of water and replied, “Yeah, it’s a bit better today, but I still have a low fever and I’m feeling pretty wiped out.”

“You really should go see the doctor again tomorrow. You’re all alone over there, so make sure you take care of yourself,” May said.

Sophia rubbed her forehead and leaned back against the bed. She said, “Got it. I’ve already sent you the proposal for the southern development project.

“Take a look when you get a chance and see if there are any legal risks we need to watch out for.”

“Sure thing. So, how are things going at Rothea Designs? Any idea when you’ll be able to come back?” May asked.

Sophia sighed and said, “I’m afraid I’ll have to stick around for a few more days. Just sealed the deal with the client today, so now I’ve got to rework the designs all over again.”

May’s voice was thick with worry as she said, “Sophia, take it easy, alright? If it gets too crazy, just pay the compensation-seriously, it’s not like we can’t afford it.”

Sophia said, “No way. Rothea Designs finally broke into the scene in Japoria-there’s no way I’m letting a couple of hiccups mess up our rep.”

May sighed and said, “Fine. But you have to promise me-take your medicine and get enough sleep.” After a short chat, they hung up.

Meanwhile, Easton had been in Menolia for the past few days, overseeing things at the research center. The moment Easton finished his meeting, Gordon knocked and walked in. He reported, “Mr. Foster, looks like Evan, the design director from Rothea Designs, is in Japoria right now.

“I’ve had some folks in the industry keeping tabs on Rothea Designs for us, and they just messaged me-a problem popped up with their new project, so Evan went to the site herself to take care of things. Here’s the photo they sent over.”

Easton took the phone and glanced at the picture.
