Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 137

137 Chapter 137

137.Chapter 137

May exclaimed, “Sophia, something’s happened. I just heard Irene had an accident at the nursing home-she’s been rushed to the hospital for emergency care.”

Sophia froze, her whole body suddenly going weak-a wave of shock leaving her barely able to stand. Her hand instinctively reached out to steady herself against the dining table.

She asked, “How could this happen? Wasn’t Irene perfectly fine at the nursing home? How did something like this happen?”

May replied, “I’m not sure either. I’m heading to the hospital right now to see what’s going on. Don’t worry, I’ll let you know as soon as I hear anything.”

After hanging up, Sophia was still reeling from the shock. She grabbed her phone and dialed Grace.

Grace could barely get words out between sobs. She hurried out into the hospital hallway and answered, “Mrs. Sophia Foster, it’s terrible. Mrs. Irene Foster fell at the nursing home-she’s in surgery right now. The doctors are fighting to save her.”

Sophia drew a deep breath, trying to stay calm. She asked, “What exactly happened?”

Grace replied, “I took Mrs. Irene Foster out for our usual walk in the garden today, just like always. But suddenly it got windy, so I ran back inside to grab her a sweater. When I came back, I saw she’d fallen into the flowerbed.”

Sophia pressed, “Was there anyone else in the garden at that time?”

“No, everyone else was at lunch. It was just Mrs. Irene Foster and me out there,” Grace replied.

Hearing how hard Grace was crying, Sophia tried to soothe her. She said, “Grace, please, don’t cry. Can you remember if you saw anyone when you left or came back to the garden?”

Grace choked out, “No. I didn’t see anyone.”

“About how long did it take you to run back for the clothes and then get back to the garden?” Sophia pressed gently.

Grace paused, thinking hard. She then said, “It must have been around ten minutes, give or take. Are you suspecting someone purposely hurt Mrs. Irene Foster while I was away?”

Sophia hadn’t ruled it out, but the whole nursing home was under surveillance-if someone had really meant to hurt Irene, the police would find out.

Sophia asked, “And Easton? Where is he right now?”

Grace replied, “Mr. Foster flew over to Menolia a few days ago for meetings. Mrs. Irene Foster told me he’d be back today-the butler even got the airline to notify him. He’s probably up in the air as we speak.”

Sophia was a nervous wreck. She thought, ‘With no family at Irene’s side, what if something goes wrong and there’s no one there for her? No, stop it-Irene’s always been incredibly lucky. She’ll pull through; she has to.’

Sophia immediately booked the fastest flight back, but even then, she’d have to wait another four hours before departure.

All night, Sophia sat in the airport waiting for calls from May or Grace, but neither of them called.

At 3 AM, just before she boarded, Sophia finally called May herself. She asked, “May, have you heard anything about Irene?”

May said, “Sophia, it’s so late-why aren’t you getting some rest? You’re still sick, you know. I’ve been outside the hospital waiting, but still nothing.

“Easton already made it to the hospital. Now there are reporters from all over Jenston crowding the entrance -they’ve basically blocked the whole place.”

Hearing that Easton had already arrived at the hospital, Sophia finally felt a little more at ease. She said, ” Alright. I’m boarding now. Let me know right away if anything comes up-I’ll see it as soon as I land tomorrow.”

“Got it. Don’t worry, just take care of yourself out there,” May replied.

Sophia sat on the plane, feeling frantic. She clutched her phone, torn about whether she should call Easton or

not.
