144 Chapter 144
144.Chapter 144
Julian walked into Easton’s office and noticed Easton looked a bit serious. He said casually, “Disappointed it’s me?”
Easton’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Want the truth?”
Julian sat down on the couch. “Of course.”
Easton waved Gordon out and then made Julian a cup of coffee himself. “If Sophia had come instead, I’d probably be a lot happier.”
Julian took a sip of coffee and set the cup down. “Mr. Foster, before I agree to sign with Crestview Group and Foster Group, there’s something I want to ask you first.”
Easton raised an eyebrow and nodded. “Go ahead.”
Julian looked him over for a few seconds. “Why Crestview Group?”
Easton’s gaze was steady, his tone cool. “Crestview Group’s got what it takes.”
Julian shook his head. “Cut the corporate talk, Mr. Foster. You know what I’m really asking.”
Easton raised an eyebrow. “I want Foster Group and Crestview Group to pick up where we left off five years ago. Even my relationship with Sophia.”
Julian hadn’t been sure before, but hearing Easton say it out loud still caught him off guard. “You’re serious, Mr. Foster?”
“You have doubts about what I said?” Easton asked.
Julian paused for a moment. “I’m just a little surprised.”
Easton and Julian seemed to reach an understanding on the topic, and they let it go at that.
Word about the partnership between Foster Group and Crestview Group spread quickly in Jenston.
At today’s Crestview Group meeting, Julian locked in the date for the official signing ceremony, which would take place the day after tomorrow.
Sophia stayed quiet throughout the meeting, and after everyone else left, Julian asked her to stick around.
“The signing’s in two days. If you want to change your mind, there’s still time,” Julian said.
Sophia looked up with a faint smile. “Julian, do you think we’re kids playing in the sandbox? This isn’t some game. I already agreed to the partnership, so why would I back out now?”
Julian looked at Sophia. “Whatever you want to do, you have my unconditional support.”

Sophia knew Julian cherished her and understood exactly what he was worried about. After a few words to put his mind at ease, she headed back to her office.
As soon as Sophia opened her email, she spotted a draft contract from Foster Group.
She read through it carefully. Easton was practically bending over backwards for Crestview Group, making it almost impossible not to profit from this deal.
‘What is he really after?’ Sophia wondered.
On the day Foster Group and Crestview Group signed the deal, Sophia wasn’t present. Easton had Gordon check what was up.
Emily was packing up her files and about to leave the hotel when she ran into Gordon. “Hi, Ms. Carter. Any idea why Ms. Roth wasn’t at the signing today?” Gordon asked.
Emily replied politely, “Hi, Gordon. There was an issue with one of Crestview Group’s projects in Duskspire, so Ms. Roth headed out yesterday to take care of it.”
Gordon got it and thanked her.
Easton stood at the window, phone in hand, and gave Sophia a call.

144 Chapter 144
As Sophia walked out of the site, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen with no name, just a string of digits she could never forget.
She just stared at the screen, not picking up.
Thankfully, Easton didn’t try calling again.
Back at the hotel, Sophia treated herself to a long, relaxing bath.
