Julian and Edward, standing nearby, were both stunned.

Sophia froze for a moment. “Hold on. I can’t accept this gift. Is Gordon still outside?”

The butler nodded.

Sophia closed the box, fixed up the packaging as best she could, and walked out of the Roth residence with the gift in hand.

Sure enough, Gordon was still waiting. When he saw Sophia step out of the mansion, his face lit up with surprise and delight.

“Ms. Roth, you’re here?” Gordon stammered, almost calling her by the wrong title.

He awkwardly rubbed his nose, clearly embarrassed.

Sophia set the gift box down in front of Gordon, her face calm. “Tell Mr. Foster this gift is way too much. I won’ t take it.”

Gordon looked lost, not knowing whether to take the box or just leave it there.

He said nervously, “Ms. Roth, Mr. Foster told me I had to get this to you no matter what. If you don’t accept it, it’ll be hard for me to explain to him.”

Not wanting to make things difficult for Gordon, Sophia asked him to call Easton right in front of her.

Easton picked up almost immediately.

Sophia took the phone from Gordon, her voice calm and even. “Mr. Foster, I can’t accept the gift you had Gordon bring me.

“It’s just too much. I’ve already handed it back to him, so please don’t put him in a tough spot.”

Before Easton could even say anything, Sophia hung up.

The three guys were having a meeting at the riding club lounge. When Easton answered the call, the room went dead silent. Sophia’s voice was so clear in the quiet that everyone heard every word.

As soon as Easton got hung up on, Ryan and Charles, sitting nearby, tried hard not to burst out laughing. “Easton, this is the first time we’ve ever seen you get totally owned by a woman,” Charles couldn’t help but crack up.

Easton pressed his tongue against his molars, shooting Charles a frosty glare, but Charles just kept laughing.

Ryan couldn’t hold it in either.

Easton looked seriously pissed off, and finally, the two of them decided to cut it out.

Ryan poured him a drink. “Ms. Roth is talented, gorgeous, and smart. And most importantly, she’s got money. I think you’ve got your work cut out for you if you want to win her over.

“A bracelet isn’t going to cut it. Plus, you’ve been all over the tabloids with Stella. If I were Sophia, I wouldn’t want anything to do with you either.”

Easton took a drag from his cigarette and shot Ryan a look. ‘Like, I don’t know that? I’ve already had someone handle it, he thought.

‘This guy’s just stating the obvious, Easton grumbled to himself.

Easton was fuming inside. He could only blame himself for never bothering to clear up those rumors or pay any attention to the gossip.

Charles couldn’t help but offer his two cents. “Hey, it’s not all bad. Sure, Sophia’s got everything, but showing

“The internet and the press have been buzzing these past few days, saying you bought it for Ms. Weston.

“But if you give it to Sophia instead, and the press and netizens catch wind of it, she’ll be the new trending topic. Maybe that’ll make her see you differently?”

Easton rubbed his forehead, at a loss for words. ‘These two are hopeless; one’s more clueless than the other, he thought.
